How to Read From Broken to Beautiful
This book references several biblical principles and Scriptures.
Have your Bible handy to look up the verses as you read.
Introduction
Have you been hurt? Abused? Cheated? Or broken? Do you find yourself feeling sad, lonely, hopeless, desperate, or empty inside? Are you angry or bitter at the one who wronged you? Maybe you are confused or stuck. If this describes you (or someone you know), then this book is for you. From Broken to Beautiful teaches you how to read and use the Word of God to heal from hurts, as well as to encourage and inspire you. There is life after brokenness.
You will learn important biblical principles that will help you on your journey toward healing. You will read about the importance of changing your attitude and mindset. You will discover the importance of forgiving, loving, and denying unhealthy thoughts and feelings in order to grow and move forward. This book covers not only healing but how to strengthen your relationship with the Lord, resulting in living a purpose-filled and fulfilling life.
In August 2014, I suffered the pain of heartbreak when I discovered that my husband was having an affair, and he told me he wanted me to leave. I was six months pregnant with our second child, and our first child was only sixteen months old.
I understand the struggle of adultery, single motherhood, separation, divorce, a failed marriage, heartbreak, abuse, manipulation, toxic relationships, and depression. If God can help me overcome my heartbreak and circumstances, He can help you too. If God can turn my life around, He can turn yours around, too. It will not happen overnight, and it will require work, but if you choose God over the life you are now living, He will replace it with one you never thought possible.
Seriously consider the principles I share. Applied rightly, you can expect a difference in your healing journey. God promises that when we correctly use His Word, it accomplishes its purpose. These biblical principles will work for you. They helped me heal my brokenness and showed me how to move forward in my journey after experiencing heartbreak. If you are willing to do the work and allow God to speak to your spirit and change your mind as you read through the following chapters, you will find healing and refreshment for your soul.
I pray my words will encourage you to see that a good life is waiting for you beyond your current pain. Though these times may be hard, take comfort that God is close to the brokenhearted, and He has not forgotten you nor forsaken you.
Chapter 1
Salvation
If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Romans 10:9–10
Your first step toward deliverance and your new life requires a genuine desire to change and an acceptance that you cannot do it all on your own. The Bible says in Romans 8:28 that God works everything together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. This means that if you develop a relationship with the Lord and walk in the Lord’s purpose (not your own), all things can work together for your good and for your love, joy, health, peace, and prosperity.
The Word shows us that when Jesus went up on the cross, He paid the ultimate sacrifice. He gave His life as a perfect atonement for all our sins so that we can have a relationship with God. He loved us and gave us the greatest gift, which is the power of the Holy Spirit inside of us. But none of this will be truly effective in your life unless you open yourself up to receive it and allow it to change you.
My prayer for you is that:
this book will be a blessing to you as you journey through your healing, no matter what stage of the process you may be in;
you will let the biblical lessons I teach guide you to a place of joy, peace, and love; and
the Holy Spirit will fill you.
If you do not know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, but you want to participate in this journey toward your healing, I encourage you to spend some time in the Word and in prayer (in conversation with God). Invite the Lord into your life, let Him know you want to change and heal, and open up your mind and heart to receive what He has for you.
Chapter 2
My Testimony
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
Revelation 12:11
In August 2014, I discovered that my husband was having an affair.
I was six months pregnant with our second child, and our first boy was only sixteen months old. Our relationship had always been rocky. We had been married for only about a year and a half and had experienced several life changes within a short period of time. I quit both my part-time jobs, and he started his first full-time job; we both graduated from college;
