About this ebook

This eBook was written for you, the backslidden Christian man or woman. You already know you're not right with God. You already know your lifestyle is contrary to Biblical standards. You probably suspect your eternal soul is at risk right now. You are right. "How YOU can have Victory over Temptation and Sin... Right Now! A Book of Hope", gives you God's solution to overcoming temptation and the sin that surely follows it.

You can beat this, even if you lack willpower! Truthfully! Two major scriptures are the key to becoming an overcomer, as required by God. This book addresses sexual sin, bondage to sin, sexual addiction, and many others. You can be free from the endless cycles of sin, confess, repent, sin, confess, repent (which is not true repentance) once and forever. It IS possible to live a nearly sin-free life. God says so and it's true. This book will show you how.

You don't have to be in bondage to get benefit from this book; it helps with the "occasional" sinner as well. If you are a human being who sins (and you are) you can benefit from reading this, God's book to you.

Prayer is a good place to start this endeavor. Please pray this out loud right now: Holy Spirit, make your presence known to me as I read this book. Come and fill me right now. According to God’s Word, I invite you in. Immerse my mind and heart and my very life in you. Let your Word speak to my heart; teach and guide me in all your ways of truth. Help me to live a holy life consecrated to God. Help me to see the need for true repentance and fill me with the desire to choose it over sin. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

All scripture given is from the King James Version of the Holy Bible, unless specified otherwise.

My heartfelt thanks to the people of the Dake Annotated Reference Bible, which I believe is the absolute best bible in the world, for letting me use and quote not only scripture, but also notes and references. This permission was given years ago, so they may not remember, but still, I thank them. This book was a long time coming to fruition. If you need a bible you can understand, I highly recommend the Dake Annotated Reference Bible.

    DEDICATION

I dedicate this book to God, who never gave up on me; (when everyone else in their right mind would have!) And to my late wife Sheila K. Bell. Thanks for dragging me to church that Easter Sunday thirty-eight years ago!

    INTRODUCTION

    By Pastor Jesse Suguipit

Many are the Christians, who down deep, long for victory over temptation and sin, but sigh in hopelessness of ever experiencing it. Many are the believers who long for power in the gospel and Holy Spirit,  yet remain barren and fruitless. Many Christians it seems, have no idea or any solution for this great destruction called sin. Without victory in our daily lives, hope becomes hopelessness and fruitlessness; fruitlessness becomes defeat, then apathy.

Are you one experiencing this great loss of hope? May this book "How YOU can have victory over temptation and sin", authored by Lee A. Bell, help you to restore your hope and fruitfulness.

To God be the glory and may His blessings over you abound as you read and apply this book to your life.

    Pastor Jesse R. Suguipit

Senior Pastor, Loay Fundamental Baptist Church

    Loay, Bohol, Philippines

Author’s note: I edited Pastor Suguipits comments (with permission from him), and on his behalf, to better reflect more correct English and grammar.

I was fortunate enough to attend Pastor Jesse’s church several times during my two stays in the Philippines. He shepherds an EXTREMELY small church in Loay, Bohol, the Philippines. They are a small, but faithful, yet POOR congregation. Indeed, if you are in the least knowledgeable, the Philippines are among the poorest nations in the world. Most of the 20 or so members of his flock are faithful to tithe, when they are able, but most are not able. Most have little OR NO income. As a result, the wages to paid to Pastor Jesse are meager; barely enough to sustain he, his loving and caring wife Joy and their school-age Christian daughters (who call me uncle!). More often than not, Pastor Jesse and Joy send their precious children off to school with no breakfast and no food to take for lunch. Brothers and sisters, this ought not to be! They struggle with the bare necessities that you and I take for granted.

I’m asking YOU Christian,  <><  to prayerfully consider becoming a monthly financial supporter of this Pastor and family, and their church family, many of whom personally message me still to this day on Facebook.

As this book from the Lord will bless you, I’m asking you to bless this Holy Spirit, soul-saving and bible teaching pastor and his ministry in the Philippines. He and his family are your brothers and sisters in Christ! It’s not right to let them continue to suffer, when you have so much.

The really great news here is that, your dollars will be multiplied by roughly 50 times, due to the exchange rate of the U.S. Dollar and the Philippine Peso! How’s that for a great return on your money? I need 15-20 FAITHFUL Christians to STEP UP and do the right thing here. If you have  seldom (or never) given to the Lord, or if you are looking for a good ministry to give to, God has just placed it before you. Please don’t miss this opportunity FOR YOU!

Don’t assume that someone else will do this. This man of God and his family need help from you.

You can reach Pastor Jesse via his email address: jessesuguipit@yahoo.com

    Please don’t wait!

    PROLOGUE:

This is a book for the backslidden, or the sinning Christian. Don’t pretend you’re not one or the other, please. This is the first of a three-part series of eBooks that thoroughly examines the topics of Sin, Sexual Bondage, Backsliding and Salvation, and Spiritual Warfare. I present this book first, because it is the most important in that it can free you from sin and bondage, and give you victory over temptation and sin. It actually represents the 8th, 9th and last chapter of a book that included all of the above remaining two parts, which were the first seven chapters.

Some of you have been fighting (and losing!) this war for decades. It can make an eternal difference in your final destination. THIS IS A BOOK OF HOPE!

This may be a hard read for some; especially those trapped in perpetual sin and bondage, so I encourage you to push through to the end. In many cases, I’ve pulled no punches and laid out this book in straightforward words. I ask you not to be offended by the words of this book. Being offended is a choice. Choose not to be offended if the worlds hit home. Additionally, it addresses adult subjects, such as masturbation for one example. If you are a parent, decide if it is appropriate for your pre-teen to read. Bear in mind, girls are getting pregnant before the age of ten now days.

It’s important for you to know that the way to victory over temptation and sin included in this book, (and the two that follow) are not my teaching, but God’s, as presented in His Holy Bible. There’s no greater task in life that over-coming temptation and sin. And now, not much time.

It’s my hope that you will eventually read the other two eBooks, to gain insight and wisdom in these subjects, which will allow you to see how you got here in the first place. These books will come as they are finished. They are entitled, Why do I sin? and Backsliding, am I still saved?

    Contents

HOW YOU CAN HAVE VICTORY OVER TEMPTATION AND SIN... RIGHT NOW!

    A BOOK OF HOPE!

CHAPTER ONE: YOUR PART: TRADE IN TEMPORARY PLEASURE FOR ETERNAL PLEASURE!

CHAPTER TWO: MAINTAINING YOUR FREEDOM AND SALVATION

CHAPTER THREE REPAIRING AND RESTORING YOUR RELATIONSHIP TO GOD

    CHAPTER ONE:

YOUR PART: TRADE IN TEMPORARY PLEASURE FOR ETERNAL PLEASURE!

And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey Him... Heb. 5:9

And for this cause, He is the mediator of the New Testament, that by means of (His) death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. Heb. 9:15

What do you want for your ETERNAL future? Do you want to spend it in total joy, peace and happiness or in fire and absolute torment in hell; being driven to madness, knowing what you COULD have had? Are you going to take action now, or just play it by ear, letting whatever happens happen?

Being worthy to rule and reign with Jesus Christ takes action on your part. It's not all just going to fall nicely into place for you accidently. You cannot ignore transgression in your life any more. God is right now, and has been for some time, waiting for you to say, enough is enough!

Are you tired of God's silence? Tired of not one prayer being answered and no blessings coming your way? Does it make you sick to your soul? Does it eat you up inside? If you said yes, then are you willing to do what it takes to reverse this?

    AND THE WINNER IS...

If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up, thou shalt put away iniquity far from thy tabernacles. Job. 22:23

God did not leave us defenseless or helpless. He gave us multiple weapons with which to fight back: the new spiritual birth through Jesus Christ and authority in His name, power through the Holy Spirit and the Gifts of the Spirit, the very knowledge and wisdom of God Himself contained within the Holy Bible, walking in the Spirit, our own knowledge, understanding, intelligence, logic and common sense, as well as the spoken word and also faith to fight back with. You can and must win this war because the cost of losing it is just too great not too. The cost of defeat is your eternal soul. Besides, you are a Christian. You have no business doing those sinful things anyway. Are you fooled into hoping that you can continue to sin and somehow, sneak in the back door of heaven; that God will let you slide?

"Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defiles the temple of God, him shall God destroy: for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are."

The word defile is from the original Greek, PHTHEIRO, meaning to corrupt, ruin or waste. Sin and iniquity are an attack on the Temple of God, just as surely as the Romans tore down the Holy Temple in Jerusalem. Here in 1 Cor. 3:16 and 17, God is telling us that we must as Christians, keep our bodies holy, as the temple of God is holy. The Holy Spirit of God dwells within the believer following the acceptance of salvation and eternal life. These verses are a clear warning against sins which pollute the body: sexual sins, lust, lying, idolatry etc...

You've been living a defeated life long enough! It's time right now to fight back and win! I don't care how many times you've failed in the past; if you do the things contained in the chapters of this book...YOU WILL SUCCEED! You can and will break the endless cycle of sin, confess and repent, sin, confess and repent. (Which is NOT true repentance). You will defeat temptation and sin for the rest of your life!

THIS IS A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VS EVIL

If you are a Christian, you already know what Eph. 6:12 tells mankind, that the fight for control of our minds, bodies and souls originates from the spiritual realm, not here on earth. For we wrestle not with flesh and blood, but against principalities, powers, the rulers of the darkness of this world; against spiritual wickedness in high places. The previous verse warns of the wiles of the devil. The translation here is of the word METHODEIAS, (yes, methods). These are the different means, plans and schemes ( methods)used to deceive, entrap, enslave and ruin the soul of mankind. A man’s method of sinning is the devil’s method of damning his soul. The word wrestle actually means WARFARE. It refers to warfare in general between saints and spirit rebels who are against God.

4 KINDS OF SPIRIT REBELS:  *

PRINCIPALITIES = Chief rulers or beings of the highest rank and order in Satan’s kingdom. Satan’s army has a system of rank and file soldiers, much like the world’s armies here in the physical realm.

POWERS (Authorities) = Those beings who derive their power from and execute the will of the chief rulers. The further up the list, the more power and authority they have.

WORLD RULERS OF THE DARKNESS OF THIS AGE = The Spirit world-rulers.

SPIRITUAL WICKEDNESS = The wicked spirits of Satan in the heavenlies.

    * List and previous paragraphs from the Dake Annotated Reference Bible.

Make no mistake brothers and sisters, this is war. It's a spiritual war that spills over into the physical realm. It has been declared upon you whether you know it or not, or even if you believe it or not. War:

    1. is a means to an end. In this case, the objective of the enemy is possession of your eternal soul.

    2. is almost always political in nature. War is actually more of a sign of a deeper (most time hidden) circumstance, than an event that stands on its own. War is a symptom if you will. In this case, it is birthed from the spiritual realm.

    3. is won with knowledge and foreknowledge of your enemy. Satan is the king of this strategy! He calls upon centuries of accumulated knowledge and wisdom gathered about you, your blood lines and ancestors and your family history, and uses vast research and knowledge about your immediate family and your own sinful tendencies and actions. He knows your strengths and weaknesses and uses anything and everything against you.

    4. is fought on the battleground of your heart, but it is won in the space between the ears.

    MOTIVATION TO FIGHT BACK

No-one can win this war without fighting back! Some of your motivation to fight back should come from anger. Yes indeed! You should be very, very angry at the things which are trying to send your soul to hell for eternity. It's ok to be angry, Jesus was. It is useful at times when used under control. It's not wrong or sinful when anger is justified and used properly. Jesus used it in the temple and yet He was not charged with a sin in the Father's eyes afterward.

    JESUS AND TEMPTATION

Even Jesus was tempted. Don't ever feel guilty because you are tempted. Do not allow the enemy to take away your self-esteem simplynbecause you get tempted. This is a cheap victory for him at your expense. He is using your emotions against you in an event that is not your fault. When you take this away from him, you have achieved an easy win.

    Jesus endured:

    1. temptation from Satan himself in the desert AND, He was in a starving and extremely weakened physical condition at the time.

    2. the mockery of an illegal trial in the middle of the night by people who were eyewitnesses of many of the miracles He had performed. He was God in physical form and yet allowed His own creation to put Him on trial.

    3. conviction with false evidence

    4. being spat upon, stripped and beaten

    5. having His beard yanked out

    6. being whipped down to the bone by a whip interwoven with pieces of sharp metal, glass and rock. He was whipped until His back and sides were raw then He endured,

    7. being forced to carry a heavy wooden beam or cross in a physically weakened condition and in a state of shock

    8. crucifixion. Roman soldiers threw Him violently on His shredded back and drove long iron nails through both feet and both wrists. Can you feel the pain of those nails ripping and piercing through His flesh, muscles and tendons until they came all the way out the back and into the wooden cross? Can you imagine the excruciating pain He must have felt as they hoisted Him up in the air with all His weight pressed against those nails?

    9. While hanging there, they fashioned a crown out of thorns and shoved it down on His head, piercing His scalp and pressing into His skull. Crucifixion makes it extremely hard for the human body to breathe because the lungs cannot receive air properly. The weight of His body pulled down at, and rested entirely on His hands and feet. The only way for Him to get oxygen was to push against the nails in His feet or try to pull up against the nails in His wrists,

in order to lift His starved lungs up physically a few inches. He had a constant choice to make: hang His entire weight down from His wrists and slowly suffocate or push His entire weight against the nails to try to breathe and live a few moments more. Which would you choose? Put yourself in His place! Jesus went to the cross voluntarily. He died for you. Would YOU do this for someone else? I can tell you right now, I wouldn’t do it. I wouldn’t do it for you. I wouldn’t even consider it! I strongly urge you to investigate the physical crucifixion of Jesus Christ online. I challenge you to learn exactly what He went through for you!

Makes your problems seem rather insignificant, doesn't it? Remember, He did this as a man, not as God; as a human-being suffering and feeling pain just like you and me. If He could endure all that, you can endure temptation.

You think temptation is a problem? A man was poor and the only shoes he had, he dug out of a garbage can. They had a few holes in them and were a size too small. He complained about them on a street corner to a passerby, looking for a handout. Come with me. the stranger said, and I will take you to a man who has no feet.

Count your blessings brothers and sisters, if your worst problem is temptation. Somewhere, someone is far worse off than you are. Many of us don't fully appreciate just how well off we are, even in times of tribulation. If this is you, I can put your situation into perspective by telling you about a blind singer I recently saw on television singing Amazing Grace. I could see the peace on his face even when he sang the words I was blind but now I see.

You should know, the pleasure you get from sin is a temporary one. Sometimes it only lasts a few seconds, before the regret and guilt set in. Is eternal damnation really worth a temporary pleasure that goes away as quickly as it came, my brothers and sisters? Make no mistake, if you are caught up in an endless cycle of sin and repentance, you are in BONDAGE! Jesus tells us that ...whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin (John 8:34). A servant is someone who, really, has no say; they must do the will of another who is their master. The good news here is that you can opt to FIND ANOTHER MASTER. The whosoever in this verse tells us that nobody, man or woman can commit sin and NOT be a servant of it. In other words, no-one can commit sin without incurring the penalty for it. By now you surely know the wages of sin is (spiritual) death.

IT'S TIME TO FIGHT BACK...AND WIN!

No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of Me, saith the Lord. Isa. 54:17,18

First of all, I believe that God has shown me that some of you will not start this process because you are afraid that you will fail... again. Failure in the past has had such a stranglehold on you that you just don't even want to fight any more. Some of you have lost the will and desire to fight. Please, don't ever be afraid to fail. There is no shame in failure! Dr. Jonas Salk failed for seventeen years before he found the vaccine for the disease of polio. Seventeen years! Now it's all but wiped off the face of the earth. The real shame is not in failing again, it is in not trying again. Some of you wouldn’t even have purchased this book, except for its eBook format. What would the clerk at the Christian book store think, seeing me buy this paperback? Why purchase a book with this title, he/she must be a sinner! Um, yeah, we’re all sinners.

It's time for you to hitch up your britches, stiffen your back bone and reclaim everything that belongs to you. It's time to fight back... AND WIN! It's time to start saying NO! to temptation and sin again. Remember that word? It was one of the very first words we learned to say and learned the meaning of. Somehow, over the years, we've forgotten one of the simplest most basic things in life. Being afraid to fail is evil's way of getting you to allow fear into your life. The only true way to fail is to quit trying entirely.

    VICTORY FROM DEFEAT

Is there a greater example of turning defeat into victory than the Apostle Peter? On the very night

before Jesus’ illegal trial, the morning before he was crucified, this man Peter lied to the authorities repeatedly (three times, before the rooster announced) and then denied that he even knew Jesus, the Son of God. Think about that: he committed three sins on the night of Jesus trial, even after Christ told him he would deny Him. He had lived the last three years of his life with the anointed one of God; walked, talked, eaten with, drank with, laughed with God’s promised Messiah, and now cried with Him. All this,
