    Purgastory Smoke-Along

THE BOOK YOU ARE ABOUT to read contains characters, including the main character, who consume cannabis all day every day. The characters are high, I was high writing it, and I want you to be high reading it. The rules are extremely simple:

Every time Evelynn smokes, you smoke! If you play you win!

BUT BE WARNED, YOU may get too stoned and make choices that don’t end well for Evelynn.

Thank you to my mother and my family for their continued support as I pursue my writing career.

To my animals without whom I would've finished this book years earlier. And a special thank you to my Knight, who I miss every day. You will live on in my memory and as Evelynn’s furbaby.

To my grower friend who has been able to create a magick strain specifically for Purgatory, Purga-weed. (Check out the lifeofadeadgirl.com to find out how to get a FREE gram!)

Leastly, I would like to thank my sisser, Alyssa Lopez-Montoya.  I appreciate your hard work, especially in handling website issues that are way out of my realm.

    CHAPTER #1- DEATH

Evelynn watched quietly as the mortician examined her body. She looked around the room, the walls were brick painted over in eggshell white, except the back wall which was stainless steel from the ceiling to the floor. Two steel tables sat on each side of the room with a walkway between them. A small metal desk sat near the door. She touched the tip of the table as she passed by, pausing for a moment. The table was cold. If she were dead, she wasn't supposed to feel, right? As she passed the desk a deep voice came from behind her.

You can't leave. The man said, still looking over her corpse.

Can you see me? she questioned.

Without looking away from his work he nodded a yes. Evelynn suddenly felt very self-conscious. Did she look the way her body did on the table? All mangled and disfigured or did she look the way she had when she was alive? Only mangled in her own head. Why didn’t you say so? She asked, feeling foolish.

You can’t leave your body until your reaper comes to get you. It usually doesn't happen until after the service. He responded ignoring her question. They didn't have to do an autopsy since you obviously died in a car accident. So, your funeral will be the day after tomorrow. he said looking at his paperwork.

A car accident? Evelynn repeated to herself. She closed her eyes and imagined herself driving full speed into the concrete wall on the road near her house or another car running the light and crashing headfirst into her.

She’d often imagined her own death in car crashes, of her brakes giving out or the wheel locking in place so she couldn’t turn. These reoccurring visions led to her having panic attacks when she drove. She got her license at sixteen but seldom ever put it to use. She only drove when it was necessary. She’d felt her whole life she’d die in a car. The man cleared his throat catching Evelynn’s attention. She stared at him for a long moment. Can you see all dead people? I haven't seen any others. Evelynn finally managed to blurt out.

I only see those who show themselves to me, He explained finally looking up at her. Nice onesie. You’re forever stuck in the outfit you died in, lucky you died comfortable. He added gesturing to her outfit. She looked down at herself; she wore a black onesie with raised white bones forming a fabric skeleton, it was rather comfortable.

I don’t know why you’re showing yourself to me, but I will do what I can to help you He continued.

No offense but I’m dead how are you supposed to help me? Evelynn interrupted ruder than she intended.

Mostly it’s about helping the grieving families, but on occasion a spirit will need help too. Dying isn’t the end of the world... He pushed Evelynn's corpse back into the wall and sealed the door, gesturing for her to follow him as he walked to his desk. My name is Bryce, by the way, but most people call me B.

Nice to meet you, I’m Evelynn...but you already know that She said as she sat in the metal chair at his desk. If felt cold too. So, B, what now?

Now you wait for you reaper. B said pulling a blunt from his drawer and lighting it.

Reaper? Reapers are real? Are they like movie reapers with dark robes and a long scythe? Evelynn questioned almost not wanting to hear his answer.

    "Yes,
