Introduction
Wouldn’t you love that sense of calm and satisfaction in your life, not having to stress about paying bills and not having to go without? Knowing that the money you earn is yours. Not having to stretch every cent of your hard-earned money to make ends meet. It really is the little things that do make a difference and that make life easier. To be able to still enjoy life, spend quality time doing things you love with family and friends. Set yourself up early while you have the money readily available to you so if and when times do get tough you can take a step back knowing that you’ve set yourself up in the best possible position already and you will still get by making minimum repayments until the opportunity arises again when you can increase payments to get ahead again. And you will know if these opportunities are the right ones to take. Listen to your intuition—feel your intuition and see what opportunities present themselves. I am here to share with you lots of different ideas, some of which you will think are brilliant and try yourself. Others you will think what’s this crazy woman talking about?
Pick and choose what works for you. There’s always more than one way to skin a cat, as they say. I’m not one to dabble in shares, the stock market and the like, where you can lose a lot of money which otherwise could’ve been invested more wisely. Though the stock market may be something to look into in the future. On the other hand I have lots of friends who work on the theory that multiple properties negative geared is what works for them. Negative gearing is when you borrow money to invest usually to purchase properties and the income you receive from this investment ie. Rent, is less than your expenses (land rates, water rates, lawn maintenance) meaning their making a loss. One the property has increased value you sell the property and make a gain off the increased property value. You don’t have to be as stingy in some areas or go without things you want or need. What works for one may not work for another. These are ideas to get you thinking outside the box. Make you aware of where your money is going. Where can you cut down your spending? What are you not willing to compromise on?
Goals are what keep us moving forward. Having something to achieve and work towards can be very uplifting when you can see that your hard work is beginning to pay off, when the results are starting to pop their head out of the sand to say hi.
The whole process and time it takes to save for your big goal. It may start as a hurdle or two, as frustrating as it may be. But if you know it’s what you really want, then don’t ever give up!
While I was typing up this book and discussing with friends and colleagues about what I’m writing, they all want to know what the book covers. Everyone wants to know what’s in this book and how I managed to pay off my first house on my own in seven years on such a small income while still managing to travel the world and buy excess handbags and shoes. While trying to explain simply what’s in the book, I would share some of my
