    I stare down at my book. Two pages of infinitely boring math problems stare back at me. I bite the end of my pencil and focus on the problem I have reached.

    Runa, Vigga, and I are lying on the floor in Vigga’s living room.

    Do you mind if I take a small nap? Vigga dunks her forehead unto the floor.

    Runa laughs, and I yawn. My eyelids feel like lead. I rub my eyes. When I open them again, one of them pricks like crazy.

    Ow! I screech. I’ve got something in my eye.

    Runa starts to laugh.

    Oh, Frida …

    I’m serious. Help! I rub again to make it go away, but then my eyes start to water.

    Don’t rub your eye. Try blinking, Vigga says calmly.

    I blink like a madman, and suddenly it is better. It does not prick anymore. I blink again and lift my hand to wipe away a tear.

    No, stop! Vigga says.

    What? I ask.

    She smiles and leans forward.

    Let me just …

    Her finger nears one of my eyes. I feel completely cross eyed. The tip press quickly against the skin just below the eye, and then it’s gone again.

    Look! Vigga holds her finger up towards me.
