    I’m going to miss you, I say. My throat is closing up. It feels as if there is a big lump in it.

    Frida and I are in a changing room, and she is trying on bikini number … well, I have actually lost count … while my mom does the shopping. Frida is going on holiday and is flying out late tonight.

    Hey, dummy, I’m not going to forget about you. Frida rolls her eyes. I’ll only be gone a week.

    Yes, you will. You’ll definitely get lots of new friends. They’ll be all over you.

    Frida makes a grimace.

    Like flies on a dog turd.

    But I know it is true. Frida is the kind of person everyone likes. She is always nice and never quarrels with anyone, and she is not shy like me. She can talk to everyone. I often do not know what to say to people.

    She looks at me with big, brown puppy eyes.
