The Ontological Mathematics Foundation

Introduction

Dante placed the great geniuses of the pagan world, such as Plato and Aristotle, in Limbo, the first circle of Hell. They were not punished or tortured. Instead, they lived in a magnificent citadel of reason located in an idyllic valley with a beautiful meadow at its center. The light of their inner genius cast an enchanting glow over their world.

We refer to this pagan citadel of rationalism as Castalia, or Logopolis, or the City of the Higher Sun, or Hyperborea.

The residents of Castalia are delighted to be exiled from the presence of the Biblical God, the terrorist deity of Abrahamism. They celebrate the fact that there is nothing linking Limbo to the home of the psychopath Jehovah. Reason and faith do not come into contact with each other at any point. Martin Luther, the lunatic founder of Protestantism, said, Reason is the Devil’s greatest whore; by nature and manner of being she is a noxious whore; she is a prostitute, the Devil’s appointed whore; whore eaten by scab and leprosy who ought to be trodden under foot and destroyed, she and her wisdom. . . . Throw dung in her face to make her ugly. She is and she ought to be drowned in baptism. … She would deserve, the wretch, to be banished to the filthiest place in the house, to the shithouse. Who in their right mind would want to be part of this deranged Christian crew of reason-haters?

It is not that Heaven has exiled the people of Limbo. Limbo has forbidden the criminals of Heaven from ever darkening the door of the Land of Reason. No amount of faith will ever topple the high towers of reason. Castalia will never submit and never fall. Castalia is the Grail Castle. The Grail, the most precious thing of all, is the Principle of Sufficient Reason, the rational answer to rational existence.

Visionary writer Hermann Hesse used Castalia as the name of a futuristic utopia where the most intelligent people in the world played the most complex game in the world – the sublime Glass Bead Game – so complex that it had begun to serve as a meta-reality, reflecting and commenting on reality itself, and revealing its deepest secrets.

It’s time for all the brightest people in the world to unite under Castalia’s black banner – the Death’s Head, the Skull and Crossbones – representing the death of faith (emotionalism), the death of mysticism (non-intellectual intuitionism), and the death of empiricism (sensory perception). It’s time for rationalism to be reborn, for humanity to be liberated from the Cave of Ignorance, Belief, Materialism and Endarkenment. It’s time for the Second and Final Enlightenment, for the true Age of Reason, the age of ontological mathematics rather than science.

We have lowered Castalia’s drawbridge for a short time. Come in and meet the Knights that guard Reason itself, and preserve it from the unceasing assaults by faith, mysticism and empiricism. The Knights are the noblest, most honorable people of all, the final defenders of civilization against the dark forces of chaos and unreason. William Butler Yeats wrote, Things fall apart; the center cannot hold; mere anarchy is loosed upon the world, the blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere the ceremony of innocence is drowned; the best lack all conviction, while the worst are full of passionate intensity. The Castalian Knights are those that hold the center and stop things falling apart. They keep back anarchy and the blood-dimmed tide. They retain their conviction, and they never give in to the passionate beasts of faith.

The Castalians present an entirely new vision of reality, one based on the universe as mathematical rather than scientific. Only a mathematical universe is rational. Only a mathematical universe obeys the Principle of Sufficient Reason, the law of reason, and its corollary Occam’s razor, the law of rational simplicity.

The Castalians offer a Third Way. Reason obliterates mainstream religion and scientism alike. We are neither believers, nor atheists. We are rationalists that know that reality is predicated on eternal mathematical minds – monads – that people once called souls. These are uncaused and uncreated. They are the unique, exclusive, rational, mathematical answer to why there is something rather than nothing.

Reasons To Disbelieve

If you have reasons for believing in God then you also have reasons for not believing in God, and they are of course the same reasons. Why? If the reasons for your belief prove false or invalid under closer scrutiny then you have lost your stated grounds for believing in God, and you should, if you are being logical, immediately abandon your faith. Of course, that never happens. No believer ever sets conditions on their belief. They don’t say anything like, I will believe in God while I believe the following reasons for belief in God to be true, and I will cease to believe in God if any of these reasons proves defective. Moreover, I shall spend a lot of time studying philosophy, theology, other religions, psychology, science and mathematics in order to keep challenging my existing beliefs and my reasons for holding them. I will keep up to date with all new research and evidence that might falsify the reasons for my belief in God. We all know that no believer ever signs up for that, or ever would. You might take them seriously if they did, but they never do, so you never take them seriously under any circumstances.

On the contrary, believers unfailingly look only for things that support their beliefs, and they automatically reject or ignore everything else. They are ruled by confirmation bias: continuously interpreting evidence as confirming their existing beliefs or theories, and dismissing any evidence that doesn’t fit.

Tragically, scientism is a faith system too. Scientists look only for conclusions consistent with materialism and empiricism. Any other conclusions are automatically rejected.

If a believer specified the conditions for their belief then that would immediately disqualify them as believers and place them in the camp of agnostics. What they would be saying is that they don’t really know if their beliefs are valid, can conceive of them being invalid, and are willing to keep an open mind, unlike all religious believers that are defined by their fanatical closed mindedness and refusal to accept new or different ideas.

One of the great mysteries is why so many human beings are so locked into their beliefs, why they close themselves off to anything that challenges their beliefs. Actually, it’s not a mystery at all. People are incredibly lazy and incredibly stupid. Once they have acquired a stupid set of beliefs, one that allows them to understand their reality in some primitive way, they are far too lazy to bother trying to change their beliefs. Moreover, they actually get a buzz from believing what they do. Different beliefs would be accepted only in the rare case that they offered more enjoyable highs.

Abrahamists aren’t just believers. They are addicts. Their addiction to their beliefs is as strong as that of heroin addicts. Where heroin addicts will risk death for the sake of getting their high, Abrahamists will kill themselves (martyr themselves, as they put it) to get their high.

Here’s a simple question for all believers. What are you doing to test the validity of your reasons for believing? Under which conditions would you cease to believe? If you can specify no conditions under which you would abandon your faith – no reasons that would cause you to cease to believe – then you an unconditional believer that believes without question, without doubt, without any reason for your beliefs. This makes you an exceptionally dangerous person ... a madman that poses a serious threat to other people, just as suicide bombers do, and just as Abraham did when he agreed to murder his own son for no reason.

We are told that the tale of Abraham relates to a test of faith. So, does faith therefore consist of performing insane, pointless, lethal actions against others, including and perhaps especially your own children? There are two self-evident reasons why Abraham should instantly have rejected God. First, no father would ever under any circumstances murder his own child for no reason, unless he were an actual lunatic or psychopath, wholly lacking any moral compass and cripplingly devoid of empathy. Two, it is impossible that any loving, morally perfect Super Being could order a father to murder his son under any circumstances. Any God that gives such an order is ipso facto not God, but something else ... the opposite, the Devil.

When we rationalists examine the case of Abraham, his son Isaac and his God Jehovah, we apply an analysis. This is exactly what believers fail to do. They simply accept it without question. We subject the claims of this supposed God to rational and moral tests. We apply reasons and conditions, and if we find God wanting, we immediately reject him. This isn’t true of the madmen that admire Abraham and worship his God. They believe unconditionally and without any reasons, i.e. their beliefs are unequivocally insane, which is the only way to explain Abraham’s behavior. Because these religious nutcases do things without conditions, without reasons and without any moral compass or moral code, they are capable of anything, as history has proved countless times.

If you cannot state exact reasons for why you believe, and if you cannot state the conditions that would cause you to cease to believe, then you are a dangerous, irrational madman like Abraham himself, who was prepared to believe that the Devil was God just because the Devil referred to himself as God rather than as the Devil. After all, logically, only the Devil would order a father to murder his son as the ultimate test of obedience.

No one would be surprised in the slightest by an utterly evil being ordering a father to murder his son to prove his mindless loyalty and faith. No sane person would expect the loving, compassionate, morally perfect, infinitely good Creator of the universe to give such an order. How sick would you have to be to imagine that your God could give such an order?

Plato referred to the Form of the Good (or Idea of the Good) as the superlative source of all perfection in the universe, the ground of all other Forms, hence the origin of absolute truth, absolute knowledge, and absolute standards. Could anyone imagine the Idea of the Good containing a rule involving ordering fathers to murder their children to prove their faith in the Idea of the Good?

The Form of the Good is the one that allows aspiring philosophers to be turned into Plato’s philosopher kings (when they fully internalize the Form of the Good). Can anyone imagine a Platonic dialogue in which Plato argues that if you wish to prove you have understood the Form of the Good and have absolute confidence in it, you must perform a human sacrifice of your own son!

Why is it that any rational person can see that this is insane, but no believer can? That’s the whole problem with belief. Believers are selectively blind. They close their minds to anything inconvenient to their beliefs. Lunatic Christians believe that there is something great and noble about believing unconditionally, without question, without thinking, without reason. They are therefore perfect brainwashing fodder, perfect victims of mind control. They are the people with the weakest minds, the most easily led minds, the most impressionable minds. They barely have minds at all, and especially not thinking minds. They are little more than beasts. They are the people in whom it is easiest to construct a false consciousness. American right wingers are the classic example. They will at all times operate against their own interests, and demonize the very people that could lead them to freedom.

Here’s a challenge to the American right wingers. Your God has commanded that, in order to prove your faith, you must make a human sacrifice of the person you love most – Donald Trump. Well, will you? Or do you think that is a deranged and evil suggestion? But Abraham didn’t think it was deranged and evil when he was ordered to murder his own son, did he? So why should you? Aren’t you the finest and most loyal and devoted Abrahamists?

Christians imagine that their pathetic, brainwashed fanaticism proves they are saved. In fact, it proves they are damned. It proves they are psychopaths and Devil worshippers that cannot be reasoned with, that have no justification for their beliefs and can provide none beyond the mere fact of their belief. These people believe that the possession of a belief is also a validation of the belief, i.e. something is true because it is believed, and requires no other reason. So, people believe in God because they believe in God, not because they have reasons for their belief in God. They don’t care about that. If they had reasons for their belief, they would find it necessary to subject these reasons to the test. But that’s what they never do. They don’t take any steps at all to test their reasons. They go out of their way not to. They assert their faith. They never prove it, and they flee the field as soon as they have to place any conditions on their faith. They refuse point blank. The reason for that is simple. As soon as you make faith conditional rather than unconditional, it ceases to be faith, and becomes a mere hypothesis, which you can imagine being falsified. In fact, you already have falsified it just by contemplating the possibility. Faith, in order to succeed as faith, has to be insane, i.e. to be without reason, constraint, conditionality or any justification at all.

Kierkegaard wrote, "The ethical expression of what Abraham did is that he meant to murder Isaac, the religious expression is that he meant to sacrifice Isaac – but precisely in this contradiction is the anxiety that can make a person sleepless, and yet, without this anxiety Abraham is not who he is. Kierkegaard dared to ask how a murderer – Abraham in his heart and soul murdered Isaac, regardless of whether or not Isaac actually died – can be revered as the father of faith. Abraham had to choose between basic morality and what he regarded as his absolute duty to God. He chose to annihilate morality to show his obedience to his God. Kierkegaard talked about this in terms of the leap of faith, the act of believing in something outside the boundaries of reason. Would you take the leap of faith to abandon morality in order to believe in God? No rational person would. The very fact that there is a contradiction between being moral and being Godly – no moral person would ever murder their son, but a Godly" person like Abraham was perfectly willing to do so – means that something has gone horrifically wrong with the fundamental definition of God. It is a definition that cannot be rational!

Kierkegaard said, I think that, just as a Christian always ought to be able to explain his faith, so also a married man ought to be able to explain his marriage, not simply to anyone who deigns to ask, but to anyone he thinks worthy of it, or even if, as in this case, unworthy, he finds it propitious to do so. How many Christians could explain their faith? They can’t. It’s rationally impossible. All they can do is proclaim their faith, but that’s exactly what the denizens of madhouses do, and no one takes them seriously. Why should anyone take Christians seriously? It’s only because there are so many of them. They are a vast, mad force in our midst, capable of the most immense and apocalyptic destruction.

Abraham was a person of faith. Only such a person could contemplate murdering his son for no reason. All Abrahamists are of the same ilk. They pride themselves on it. If we lived in a sane, rational society, all of these people would be locked up, and their religion would be declared illegal as a clear and present danger to humanity.

These people are not good. Good people apply reasons, conditions, principles and moral codes. Believers do none of that. They simply obey. That’s what Abraham did, and that’s what all of his emulators and admirers do. That’s what all believers do. That’s what belief is. A believer always obeys orders, just like the Nazis. That defense didn’t work for the Nazis at Nuremberg. Why should it work for Abrahamists?

Believers never ask questions. Abraham didn’t ask God to explain himself. Believers are slaves. They worship a Terrorist that threatens then with eternal hell if they don’t do exactly what he says. They are more than eager to do exactly that. It’s exactly because they are mindless, brainwashed morons that act without reason, that can’t think, that volunteer to be prisoners of a God that will torture them forever if they disobey, that they believe that this Abrahamic behavior is natural, good, the right way of doing things, the right and only way of living. They detest everyone that refuses to join them in their lunatic jail, and they lust after murdering them, as they have done so gleefully throughout history, and as they certainly would do today if they could get away with it.

These people despise reason. They agree with Luther that faith is the greatest gift, and reason the Devil’s whore.

Nietzsche said, Truth is ugly. We have art lest we perish of the truth. He might have said that believers have religion to protect them from perishing of the truth.

Jehovah

Jehovah is mad, bad and dangerous to know. That makes him the Devil.

Isaac still hasn’t mentally recovered from the day his daddy abducted him, tied him up, and placed a cold, hard knife against his throat. The only reason he didn’t cut was that he heard a voice in his head telling him to stop … he didn’t stop himself. Then a ram had its slit throat instead. Isaac has held patricidal thoughts ever since, and finds it impossible to trust adults. Shouldn’t the religion of Abrahamism be replaced by the religion of Isaacism? Isaac despises faith that leads to adults being willing to murder everyone and anyone, including their own children. Jehovah created the human race – his human family, his mortal children – then murdered all of them apart from Noah and his family. What kind of father is that? How could anyone worship the worst and most deadly father in the universe?

Doubt

Nietzsche said, It is not doubt, it is certainty which makes men mad. Everyone that is certain in their faith, that doesn’t doubt it, is mad. You can be certain that 1 + 1 = 2. That is not a matter of faith. Everything to do with God, by contrast, is a matter of faith. Nothing to do with mathematics is a matter of faith. The only way for God not to be a matter of faith is for God to be mathematics. But no believers are up for that kind of thing. Reason and logic are of no use to them, and of no interest to them.

You can’t pray to mathematics and beg it for favors and to smite your enemies. You can’t engage it in your sick, sado-masochistic fantasy where you have to do exactly what your cosmic dominant says or suffer his eternal torture. Yet, deep down, that’s exactly what believers crave, isn’t it? They want their master to apply every torture he has in his warped, mad mind. Step one in the madness game ... order a father to murder his son for no reason and call it a test of faith! There is no greater indictment of the human race than that billions of human beings believe that God would order a father to make a human sacrifice of his own son. How can a human race that believes such things be anything other than Satanic? It wasn’t God that had the right to drown humanity, it’s humanity that has the right to drown God!

Original Sin

What is the original sin in Abrahamism? The acquisition of knowledge. What must you never do in Abrahamism? – disobey God and eat the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge that makes you a god too. Knowledge is power. Absolute knowledge is absolute power.

The Book of Genesis says, And the LORD God said, ‘The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever. So the LORD God banished him from the Garden of Eden ...

What is God’s only concern here? To prevent Adam and Eve becoming gods like him! We are those that will do exactly that. You won’t find us on our knees, praying to a Cosmic Terrorist, waiting for him to order us to murder people, including our own children and ourselves to prove our faith.

The Bread God

There are people in the world so stupid that God cannot appear to them except in the form of the Abrahamic God, the Torture God of Cosmic Terrorism and Insanity.

People initially take drugs to make them feel good, to get a high. As time goes on, they take the drug not to feel good but to prevent them from feeling bad, to stop them reaching a low. Isn’t mainstream religion now exactly like that? It doesn’t give believers any satisfaction, any joy, but it prevents them from having to confront the horror of facing up to reality without their childish beliefs and infantile gods. That’s why they go on praying and meditating, two of the most pointless human activities ever conceived.

With prayer, people petition non-existent deities, their own fantastical projections. With meditation, people seek to use their minds to suppress their minds, to reduce their mental activity to zero, to become mindless, which, bizarrely, they refer to as being mindful. You couldn’t make it up.

What’s for sure is that the praying and meditating masses never pick up any books on mathematics, engineering, science and philosophy. That’s why the world is a moronic shithole, penal planet, and cosmic mental asylum. That’s why it’s an anti-Castalia.

How Not To Think

People think wrongly systematically. Thinking wrongly comes as second nature to them. They always make some fatal assumption. Most people think linearly. Why not circularly? Why have they privileged lines over circles? And what about waves? Why not think in wave terms?

The ancient Greeks conceived of circular time. Eastern religion is also based on circular time. Abrahamism, by contrast, relies on linear time. The religious and philosophical conclusions produced by circular time are totally different from those generated by linear time. Wave time, with its peaks and troughs, is something else again.

Materialists cannot think in terms of minds. Dimensional thinkers cannot conceive of the dimensionless. Empiricists cannot think rationally. Emotionalists cannot think rationally. Mystics cannot think rationally.

Most people literally cannot conceive of mathematics as having actual existence. Why not? What legitimate reasons do they have for this belief? If mathematics exists then all supposed non-mathematical existence is automatically false. Nothing that is not mathematical can co-exist with mathematics.

Many people think in terms of parts. They believe the whole is made up of parts. What if the Holographic Principle applies and the whole is in every part, and the whole defines every part? The parts-in-whole way of thinking arrives at entirely different conclusions from the whole-in-parts worldview. The first is consistent with localism, the second allows the explanation of non-locality. People can understand locality. Non-locality is inconceivable to them.

The non-local phenomenon of quantum entanglement is impossible for scientific materialists to decipher. They do not have the vaguest clue what it means. It makes no sense in terms of materialism and empiricism. Therefore, they are faced with a simple choice: abandon their paradigm and adopt a new one, or explain non-locality as weird. No prizes for guessing which approach they selected.

Paradigm shift is the last thing that conservatives consider. It takes the total collapse of their previous paradigm before they move to a new paradigm. But, while their prevailing paradigm is collapsing, they keep defending it to the hilt and explaining away its anomalies. Look at dark matter and dark energy. They are estimated to cater for 95% of the universe, while the standard model of physics concerns the remaining 5%. If your model proved 95% inadequate, wouldn’t you start looking for a new paradigm? Not scientists. They rigidly stick to their 5% model, and refuse to admit they have failed.

Scientists can’t reconcile quantum mechanics and general relativity, yet refuse to concede that this means there is something fatally wrong with their method of understanding reality (based on empiricism rather than rationalism).

Some people believe that atoms can be reduced to a non-zero limit and then no further. Totally different conclusions are reached about reality if atoms can be reduced all the way down to zero (as in the case of photons and monads).

Some people are locked into thinking of reality exclusively in terms of space, time and matter. They cannot conceive of immaterial singularities outside space and time. They would reach entirely different conclusions if they could.

Some people can think only of spacetime, and not of frequency.

Some people think of reality as a whole, a unity. Others think of it in terms of parts, a disunity. Is it a one, a many, or a one-many?

Some people think that reality must be reduced to a core group of independent axioms. Some think it must be reduced to just a single axiom, since multiple axioms would automatically generate conflict.

All it takes is for you to make one misstep in how you think about reality and you will automatically be mired in error.

Newton thought that space and time were absolute. Einstein said they were relative. Newton thought that light speed was relative. Einstein said it was absolute.

Einstein thought that spacetime was continuous. Quantum mechanics suggests it is quantized and granular.

Einstein thought that God did not play dice. His opponents claimed that God did nothing but play dice.

Rationalists are willing to rely on hidden variables. Empiricists utterly reject real hidden variables, but are willing to cite unreal probability wavefunctions.

And so on, and so on.

It’s the easiest thing conceivable to go down the wrong path. The only thing that can prevent it is to use the PSR and never to privilege anything over anything else if you do not have a sufficient reason for doing so.

Are You A Genius?

What is a genius? A genius is someone that does not see things in the same way as ordinary, normal people. Geniuses do not think conventionally. They see the things others cannot. They make connections others cannot. They link things in unexpected, surprising ways. They join dots in ways that everyone else misses. That’s why it’s so hard for others to understand geniuses. Geniuses have broken all the rules, defied all the norms, established brand new rules.

Normal people cannot follow the incredible links and leaps made by geniuses, and are dismayed and even quite frightened by geniuses. The geniuses are changing the normal worldview, and the normal do not like that. Conservatives automatically troll geniuses and rubbish their ideas. You see this happening all the time. As Schopenhauer said, All truth passes through three stages: First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as self-evident.

As soon as a radical new idea is introduced, it is different from everything else in the mainstream discourse, everything that everyone is familiar with. It’s so strange that it seems disturbingly alien and often absurd to people. They cannot see how it fits into their lives. They can’t fathom it since it does not belong to any of their schemas for understanding reality. It seems like a waste of time, and merely the product of some idiot posturing and trying to dupe others. So they laugh at it, troll it, and say how impossible it is.

If a genius idea manages to survive the ridicule (most don’t), it starts to be taken more seriously. People begin to worry that it’s here to stay, that it might prove a threat to them. The more it penetrates the culture, the more hostility it generates in those that are devoted to the old ways and ideas. Eventually, if the idea is revolutionary enough, violence becomes inevitable between those that have adopted the new idea and those that remain loyal to the past, to the old ways of understanding things.

If the idea succeeds and fully enters the mainstream, it no longer seems alien and unfamiliar and becomes an established idea, hence commonplace, unthreatening, and taken for granted. It has lost all of its ability to shock and disturb.

It’s always the conservatives that are responsible for stages 1 and 2. They are terrified of having their conventional worldview overthrown. Conservatives have an ultra fixed and narrow worldview, which they use as their schema for understanding reality. It’s as if they are permanently wearing blinkers, or intellect-suppressors. If something revolutionary comes along, they realize it means that their mechanism for understanding reality will be thrown into total confusion, and might collapse.

Conservatives rely on everything being orderly and fixed. Any intellectual revolution is dangerous to them. They are absolutely resistant to change. That’s why so many of them hold ancient beliefs first formulated in the Bronze Age. They why they worship rich elites. They always have. These people hate revolutions such as those of France and Russia. They hate the Enlightenment and the Age of Reason and remain wedded to ancient beliefs untouched by the Enlightenment and reason. Their ideas have not evolved, even though the world of knowledge has been transformed beyond all recognition since the days when the Bible was written. That means these people hate knowledge and education. They don’t accept any knew knowledge that contradicts their old beliefs. At all times, they object to new ideas and ridicule them. New ideas offer nothing to conservatives.

Why is it so hard to bring about revolutionary paradigm shifts? It’s because the forces of conservatism mount a ferocious resistance to the revolution and do everything to conserve the existing paradigm, the one they know and understand. As Max Planck said, A new scientific truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather because its opponents eventually die, and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it. What this means is that Schopenhauer’s third stage applies only to a new generation, and never to the old generation, which resists the new to the bitter end.

Planck’s doctrine is true in every context. You have to wait for the conservatives to die, and their resistance to cease – because they are no longer around – before things can move on.

Conservatives always outnumber revolutionaries. If the world were full of radicals, paradigms would be changing all the time. Conservatives are the ones that ensure that change occurs glacially slowly.

Science is extremely conservative. Quantum mechanics should have ushered in an almighty paradigm shift, a whole new conception of science. It didn’t. Science is still stuck with old, outmoded, falsified ideas and concepts. These are the reasons why it cannot unify general relativity and quantum mechanics.

As far as answering the ultimate questions of existence is concerned, science is finished. It’s unfit for purpose. The scientific paradigm itself has failed. Scientific empiricism and materialism – false science – needs to be replaced by scientific rationalism and idealism – true science.

Don’t hold your breath. The scientific conservatives – the science establishment – will do everything in their power to prevent the revolutionary paradigm shift from ever taking place.

The Four Classes

There are four classes of people: 1) geniuses, 2) the intelligent, 3) the stupid (the unintelligent), and 4) morons (anti-geniuses). All intelligent people and all geniuses have no time for mainstream religion, which revolves around backward conservative ideas and beliefs that are millennia old, but they are then savagely trolled by all conservative people of faith.

The same goes for scientism. All clever people have seen through the scientific fraud – its inability to answer the defining questions of existence – and they get trolled as nastily by the worshippers of scientism as they do by the worshippers of mainstream religion.
