Introduction

Arnold and his parents were watching a live telecast of the final match of the Wimbledon Grand Slam tournament. Arnold was very excited and mesmerized with the fast movement, precision, and flexibility of the players on the tennis court. The next day, Arnold’s parents found him in the backyard of their home imitating the movements that he watched the previous day on television. Arnold, a ten-year-old boy, was really motivated and thereby imitating the game the next day. His parents were very happy to see that their child has a lot of interest in tennis. But what next? Let’s analyze.

This is simply the result of motivation the child received from the game. Motivation comes when a child chooses something of value or interest. Motivation can be extrinsic or intrinsic. But sustained success comes only from intrinsic motivation. I remember my childhood days. Like other normal village boys, I used to follow the daily routine, as usual getting up in the morning, finishing my daily amenities followed by study for some time, then playing with friends, going to school, playing again in the afternoon, followed by study and sleep. At that time, I was completely unaware of all these fundamentals of success, some of which I came across in my college days and started learning and continuing thereafter. But I sincerely feel that if I were exposed to those kinds of knowledge and culture during my school days, I could reach the different heights.
