WHY READERS NEED A BILL OF RIGHTS
Normally, when I write books for writers, it's about a popular topic. Writing faster, writing your first novel, author mindset, and so on. This book is not about a popular topic. There's no SEO potential, no amount of marketing spin I can put on this book other than good people sharing it by word-of-mouth.
I'm writing this purely because I need to, and the writing community needs to hear it.
Let's talk about readers. You know, the people who make it possible for writers to do what they do. You're a reader right now.
If it weren't for readers, writers would have nothing. No careers, no money, no fame, or respect. Yet so many writers don't know how to treat their readers. Or worse, they treat their readers poorly, which is the biggest insult imaginable.
Writing a book is a contract with society. When you publish, you are agree to abide by certain unwritten rules. Obey those rules and readers will appreciate it; disobey those rules and you will quickly become the writer that readers love to trash…even though they may like your books. I've seen many writers fall into the latter camp as a lifelong avid reader and now a successful writer for almost a decade.
This short book is my manifesto of what I believe the rules of engaging with readers are. The book is a common-sense, no BS guide on what it means to honor your readers, treat them with respect, and engage them to become superfans. This book isn't applicable to just self-published writers; it's applicable to all writers, even mega bestsellers. Follow the rules in this book, and you'll have a loving fan base and make more money. The rules in this book are simple, though it's amazing how many people don't think to follow them.
Why I'm Qualified to Write This Book
I'm the author of over 50 science fiction and fantasy novels and self-help guides for writers. I receive fan-mail every single day from readers who were touched by my work.
I run the popular YouTube channel for writers, Author Level Up, which, at the time of this writing, has over 30,000 subscribers and over one million lifetime views. Every minute of every
