Getting Closer To Daughter’s Best Friend

Dan woke up to the sound of loud music downstairs followed by high-pitched laughter, obviously from Jen, his one and only daughter, as well as from her best friend, Missy. She had been living with them since the start of summer break. They were both 22-years-old, young women, who were about to graduate from their course.

The two were watching their favorite movie and both screamed when a kissing scene appeared on the screen. The laughter was so loud that even their neighbors could hear them. As Dan walked towards them, the two women covered their mouths and laughed harder. They were out of breath and were gasping for air when he talked.

What are you watching? he asked confused.

Teenage fantasy, dad, Jen answered while giggling.

They could not contain their screams and let out one loud scream.

Behave ladies. You might disturb our neighbors, he reminded them before getting to the kitchen to make some breakfast.

Are you not going to work today, dad? Jen asked.

Nope. I’m taking my day off. I’ve been working my ass three weeks in a row, he lazily said.

Dan’s eyes widened at his daughter’s question.

At this point, Dan came closer to them and crossed his arms across his chest. The two cuddled each other and were obviously scared of what he was about to say.

Fine. But be home at 11 in the evening and take care of yourselves ladies, he said.

Jen and Missy threw their fists in the air while jumping in excitement. They quickly got inside their bedroom and took their best outfit for the night.

Dan was left in the living area wondering what happened to his thinking. He just let Jen out which was not very typical of him. But today, when he saw the two ladies cuddling each other, seemed scared, he let his guard down and allowed them to go bar hopping.

He let out a deep sigh and turned to make himself a creamy coffee paired with bacon sandwich. How weird was his choice of breakfast. Ever since his wife left him for another man, he drowned himself in paper works and made sure he got all the best he could offer to his one and only daughter who was greatly affected by the divorce.

Time went by so fast and before he knew it, the two young ladies already glammed themselves up and were ready to hop onto the taxi waiting for them outside. Before going out, Jen kissed him on the cheek reassuring that they would be back on or before 11 in the evening. Meanwhile, Missy just stood in the corner watching the father and daughter lovingly hugging each other.

Dan eyed on her and said, Look for each other.

Missy nodded and grabbed Jen’s arm while they entered the taxi. Dan waved goodbye to the young ladies and turned to fix their backyard door. He loved outdoor activities so much and felt relaxed whenever he was home.

It was already 10 in the evening and Dan patiently waited for the girls to arrive. He watched movies as he drank a can of beer. He could still remember the time when his wife would serve him hot drinks while they watched movies. Tonight, he wanted it cold as ice.
