Why You Need a List to Succeed
Whether you sell your own product, or someone else’s product, if you are doing business online, you simply cannot expect to succeed without building an opt-in list. If you ask any successful marketer to choose just one tool, and to start completely over from scratch using that one tool, every single one of them will choose their opt-in list. That’s how important building a list is.
As an affiliate marketer, you may have been given the impression that you don’t need an opt-in list. You may mistakenly think that the merchants that you sell products for should remain in contact with the customers that you send them, but this is not a successful way of looking at things.
The fact is, those are your customers that you are sending to the merchant. In case you don’t realize it, customers are like renewable resources, and you cannot afford to send them on to the merchant without capturing their names and email addresses. This is the difference between a successful affiliate marketer and an affiliate marketer who only makes a minimal profit – if any profit at all – and always struggles to succeed.
Once you realize how important an opt-in list is, you know how to build an opt-in list, and you know how to communicate with that list, success is imminent.
Success is going to happen at that point, because that list simply leaves no room for failure. Your opt-in list will, in fact, become the life’s blood of your business.
Without that blood, your business will die, if it even gets a chance to take its first breath.
It may sound like I am exaggerating the need for an opt-in list, but I’m really not. Are you starting to realize how important the list is? If not, let’s take a look at more factors.
Let’s say that you sell a pet product for a merchant, and you promote that product – without a list – using various media, such as Google AdWords, ezine ads, article marketing, and forum marketing...and those advertising outlets pay off for you. You make tons of sales of that one product to pet owners around the world, and you send every one of those customers directly to the merchant’s page, using your affiliate ID.
In this instance, you will make a nice healthy paycheck from that merchant for the month. Congratulations...you’ve just failed. Yes – you’ve failed. You
