    WHAT ARE KOBOLDS?

Kobolds breed like rats. It’s all they seem to care about apart from killing.

    Not a bad life, really.

    - Dervin the Bard

Standing less than three feet high, reptilian and covered in scales, kobolds are the bane of every low level adventurer. They appear as small, humanoid dragons; they are hairless and have scales, spines on their heads and necks, and a long thick tail.

As reptiles, a kobold come into season once a month and lay an egg shortly after. Breeding is highly controlled, with a large register and scheduled partners. Females are fertilised communally, and each female is assigned a new male every month.

    WHAT ARE DROW?

Drow. Avoid dark-elves if you can. Their women are in charge of everything.

They love slaves, sex, and killing. Twisted, evil, and sadistic buggers.

    And speaking of buggery…

    - Dervin the Bard

Taller than humans, a drow-elf has ebony skin, pointed ears and white hair. Long ago exiled from the surface world, dark elves are cultured, sophisticated, and wickedly evil.

Drow society is highly regimented. Women maintain almost every major seat of power in dark-elf society. Males are servants, warriors, and little else. Drow are slavers, regularly buying and selling the lesser races like chattel. Purchases are usually swiftly worked to death, as new replacements arrive swiftly.

Our story today concerns a kobold named Taeni and her life after she is enslaved by the drow…

    CHAPTER I

    Servitude

The wagon’s six wheels creaked as it trundled away from Emparsdon, taking me away from the only home I’d ever known.

My friend Kayeli and I had been loaded into a wagon full of kobolds pulled by two large bugs, a tall, intimidating dark elf named Veldrin as its master. As we trundled away, another wagon pulled up behind our one, and another behind it, both of them pulled by a pair of large bugs in leather harnesses. Kobolds in gold jackets hopped out and began the process of loading more of my people aboard.

A process I didn’t get to see completed. The wagon turned down a corridor, taking the city out of sight. It was just us and the rocking, rickety wagon.

Qrul’s egg was in my belly, and his seed between my legs. A parting little bit of fun for him…messy. Dripping. Veldrin had not approved.

Garrax, the wagon-master, settled one set of claws on my butt, and the other on Kayeli’s. He had gotten in with us, instead of riding with Veldrin. Well now, he said, grinning widely at me, maw split into a huge smile. "We have a long trip ahead of us, so we all should settle in."

A long trip to the city of the drow. How long is it? I asked, curiously.

Garrax pinched the scales on my backside. About six weeks. Plenty of time for us all to get acquainted. He looked around to the other occupants, grinning widely. "All of us."

Acquainted. I had no illusions about what that meant. Judging by the grim faces of the others, they did too.

Whatever misgivings flowed through my brain, fears and uncertainties, Kayeli didn’t seem worried; she didn’t seem to mind her predicament, nor the rocking of the vehicle as it moved.
