    FOREWORD

    While undergoing my legal training, I sat at one of the family courts of a state high court listening to one matrimonial case after another. Till today, it is still one of the most life changing experiences I have ever had and I can still barely believe what I heard.

    As hard as the stories in those divorce proceedings were, it was still nothing compared to watching criminal proceedings regarding homicides. Wives killing their husbands because they are tired, and those who bore the abuse until they were eventually killed themselves. Of course we cannot leave out men who eventually killed their spouses because they could no longer take being verbally put down or after catching them cheat for the umpteenth time.

    The stories never end but each time I cannot help but remember the words of my father who always said ‘love is not blind; there are always clear warning signs but we are the ones who choose not to see it’.
