Preface
This is a workbook for mentors with a number of suggested actives and forms. The forms and activities will have to be adjusted depending on the age group or career stage of your partner. i.e., a junior in high school will have different needs that a middle aged professional. Use the forms and activities as a starting point; they are the mechanics to implement a universally valid process.
There are three distinct parts to this workbook. The first four chapters are for those concerned about mentoring to improve talents and strengths versus fixing weaknesses. What happens once the talents and strengths are understood depends on the objectives of the mentor and their partner. Do they want to grow their talents in their current situation/job or find a new situation/job where their talents can flourish?
For those who want to grow their talents and strengths in their current situation/job, skip chapter five and six and read chapters seven and eight. For those who are searching for new or different situations/jobs, chapters five and six are for you. The focus is on understanding the various career alternatives available. You will skip chapter seven and eight. After selecting and reading the appropriate chapters, chapter nine and ten are applicable to all readers.
Bottom line; pick and choose from the material offered which will be of most value to the mentor and their partner. Good luck on your journey into the land of talents and strengths.
Three unique fields of study have influenced the approach to mentoring we are proposing: positive psychology, strength based personal development, and appreciated inquiry. A synopsis of each of these can be found in Appendix One, all concentrate on building on what is right.
Note on epub format limitations. Forms cannot be shown with room to write in your responses, use
