Lesley Ann is a spiritual artist and author of over thirty books, both paper and digital, all of which are in print. She has written an autobiographical trilogy called The Shaman's Door about her experiences living and working with Native American Indian people in Canada and in the United States. INTRODUCTION

The real you is a luminous gift that is slowly unwrapped and revealed over the years of our lives. So many of us think we know who we are, yet as time rolls by, you will recognise that you are ever-changing, constantly awakening. The journey is the goal and once it is embraced and celebrated, it gives our lives meaning, purpose and magnificence. We are all meant to blossom, grow and prosper. We are meant to be an ever-green sacred tree which is a gift to the world and to the universe. If we try to control and thus restrain our lives, we stunt our inner growth and no matter how much worldly success we enjoy, our lives become meaningless.

The journey to the real you is the most amazing, wonderful, blissful experience you can have, but it is challenging. The very first block is overcoming the phoney, or fearful you that has been programmed by the society you were born into. This unreal you, the identity that satisfies society actually stands in the way of your inner beauty.

This eternal you is usually referred to as the soul or the spirit, but for many, this inner self is a nebulous, future self that you will meet once the physical body dies. This is a lie. You can, and should connect and identify fully with your eternal self whilst in physical form, because ONLY that blending fulfils you and takes you into the bliss state. This book is dedicated to the real you and the clear and absolute fact that you are a gift of incredible worth.

We begin by shifting your evaluation or perception of your life from what you see with your physical eyes to seeing or evaluating your life ONLY with your spiritual eyes. When you do this, suddenly all those stresses and strains and fears you have experienced at any time are reframed and viewed only as spiritual lessons leading towards the goal of awakening, rather than pesky problems. This perception offers the view-point that you have actively chosen to incarnate into this world in order to grow and then to blossom. It wasn’t an accident or a punishment, but a choice. If you can look at every problem from the view point of what do I learn from this. How can I be more loving, more expansive? you are beginning to take the first tentative steps towards seeing, feeling, and being the real and eternal you.

This you is no longer described as a member of a race, a nationality or even a gender. All the descriptions of the earthly you dissolve as your eternal, ever-lasting, empowered you takes centre-stage in your mind.

Once this perspective is attained you have cracked the secret code to life. Now your life will blossom. Nothing can ruffle your feathers or even slightly upset you. This also brings a lightening of your being because you are now awake in your light-body rather than condemned to live in a meat-sack! You are aware that you have a physical body, but it is not you but rather a sacred vehicle which you love and honour but no longer identify with.

This is not an easy view point to maintain, but it is the essence of inner work required to graduate from this Earth school. Your life will offer you many tests such as the death of a loved one, or a car accident, a disease or a variety of worldly ills. Yet no matter what comes your way, you are still able to cry and feel the event fully but it no longer find yourself devastated or destroyed. It is not what happens to you, but how you perceive what happens to you, that makes all the difference.

One of the analogies or metaphors I have used in my workshops to describe these two very different approaches to life is to compare your mind to being either Teflon or Velcro. You can be sensitive and spiritually aware, but when you allow events to slip off without attaching or leaving a mark, wound or stain you are living a Teflon life because you know you are not the body. So many people suffer because they are covered with a kind of energetic Velcro. They become upset, wounded and scarred with any and all minor or major incidents. They hang on to the memory and perceived wrongs for years, and even lifetimes. They allow this habit to undermine their peace of mind which utterly ruins their lives as well as those around them. This overly sensitive Velcro approach is a habit that becomes more entrenched over the years. Very soon you are trotting along with a heavy burden of insults, slights, upsets and anger clinging to the outer aura. It sticks as if glued on because of that Velcro attitude.
