About this ebook

The ancient Mystery Schools of Scotland held their secrets in locked books within the closed castle-keeps. This wisdom trickled down to form well known stories such as the tales of the Knights of the Round Table and the story of St George who killed the dragon to release the princess. Yet within these tales lies great spiritual wisdom that is as pertinent in our lives as it was in ancient times. The Book of Dragons reveals the dragon teachings of the ancient Celtic Mystery School and shows you how to apply this wisdom in your life today. The Celtic dragon is a manifestation of the dark shadow of fear and lack; when confronted and vanquished, the inner power of your soul rises to the surface, renewed, invigorated and filled with creativity. This book is the first in a series of Mystery School teachings, called The Mystery School Codices.

    PREFACE - The Path

This book, and all the books in the Mystery School Codices series, presuppose that you see your life as a gift of incredible potential. In order to fully embrace your gift you fully accept the need to work at your personal spiritual awakening and this will require at least some kind of effort on your part. When you truly embrace what is, including those inner wounds and shadows without any judgement of its spiritual or non-spiritual nature, you have begun to consciously walk your Sadhana.

The Sanskrit word, Sadhana is used in Buddhist, Hindu and Sikh traditions to describe a spiritual practice. This practice is usually conducted daily and it helps us achieve spiritual objectives. Traditionally this includes such practices as meditation, prayer, certain exercises or yoga practice and pilgrimages to sacred places. In the East, this term is used when someone steps aside from their occupation and enters an ashram or begins regular study with a teacher or Guru.

Many teachers have come to this world to offer the wisdom of enlightenment achieved by our own inner work. One great teacher is the Buddha who discovered enlightenment and then preached the middle-way of harmony and balance.

His teachings are based on the Four Noble Truths — :

    1) All of life is suffering (or is unsatisfying)

    2) Suffering comes from attachment

    3) There is a way out of this suffering

    4) Follow the eight-fold path

The four noble truths offer us teachings to help us all overcome the three poisons. These are: anger, desire and obliviousness. When we overcome these poisons, we reach enlightenment.

The Universe is like an airport travelator. Some people work with it and walk steadily to the end. Others daydream and do nothing. Others turn around and walk in the opposite direction. Yet in the end, everyone arrives. We are all part of a computer-like program that ensures everyone awakens
