    It happened shortly before I was born, so I’ve never lived in a world where laughter couldn’t be exchanged for payment. I don’t really understand the science, and I don’t have to. All I need to know is that if I go to one of the fancy labs and laugh for twenty minutes, they give me a check on the way out.

    Of course, certain types of laughter are more valuable than others. Some people just aren’t that good at laughing. Some can sit through the funniest movie in the world and barely crack a grin.

    Not me. I’m the type of girl who has loved to laugh her whole life, even before I knew I could get paid for it. Comedies, jokes, comic strips... I laugh at it all! But there’s nothing that makes me laugh harder than being tickled. I am more ticklish than anyone I know, and I love the feeling of totally losing control as someone teases me with feathers or fingers. It’s my favorite thing.

    Of course, it’s slightly less fun when it’s a machine tickling me rather than another person, but that can’t be helped, I guess. They don’t have enough staff to tickle all of the laughers individually.
