Money-Bucket Holes Explained - kelebogile mooketsi
INTRODUCTION
What do you do?
When your financial state is shaken by a force of high magnitude. Beyond your control. When you realize that you are penniless, or your pockets are slowly drying out. You look around, most of the things you thought were yours are not. You don’t own them; you owe them and you are already behind with payments. Suddenly you feel financially exposed. How could I have fooled myself for that long, into thinking I have it all, and that all will last forever
You exclaimed as anxiety and financial stress build up.
The thought that you are about to lose your house or your car through repossession steals away your beauty sleep, in that expensive bed. You are trying to figure out how you will take care of your family without a financial buffer. Not even an idea on how to make money or more money. You think back of all the passive income and business opportunities you ignored, yet you can’t come up with a principled reason why you blew them off.
You ask yourself, Where did all the money I earned gone to? After years of sweat, sleepless nights of studying and working. Waking up early winter mornings and travelling back home in the stillness of dark streets, for what? If today at my age, I have nothing to show or grip on, to survive this financial wave
.
Where have I been all my life?
You continue to question yourself. As you realize that your self-confidence and self-esteem are slowly getting tainted. How do you transform yourself?
It unsettles you the fact that some of your relationships are slowly disappearing into thin air, because of your financial instability and distorted power and influence. Your sense of advantage, power and influence is distorted too. Your cash-cow status is no more.
Not only did the COVID19 make you lose your job or have your income reduced. The job market is also on the fast downslope trail. The effects of the 4IR (Fourth Industrial Revolution) in its advanced stage, handing over to 5IR or something along that line. The Gig economy has disrupted your industry to your amusement. The new economy has replaced the old economy.
An ordeal of having to shut down your business during the lockdown period forces you to reinvent and adapt quicker to the 'new’ world of business. Not only do you have a headache of taking care of your own financial woes, but now you also have to think about your employees’ financial needs and business debt.
Your eyes see an iceberg of the pandemic effect. But deep down, your heart is having irregular beats because you know very well that the biggest fear is not the tip of the iceberg that your eyes see, but it is what’s underneath the tip. The deep, big and dark battle that you can’t figure out how to win it. The battle within yourself. You were never ready when things seemed conducive and the zone was comfortable financially. Now how can you be ready when there’s no zone to be in?
Reflection on what you could have, should have, might have done. As it stands, your age, your finances and your skills converse to each other in unfamiliar languages. You then ask yourself, can I still make it?
Yes, you can. You were born for this!
Motivation to write and focus first on the WHY of your finances
The below graph demonstrates the global adult population and share of total wealth by wealth group before COVID19.
So, if money is a universal language then most of its learnings should be easily accessible, googled and understood by many. Then, why is the wealthiest encompass about 1% of the world’s population and the remaining 99% are either poor, indebted or are the greatest taxpayers, deducted from their middle and high-income salaries?
Yes, the statistics shown above indicates more people are turning into millionaires much easier than before, but why still at such a slow pace?
Furthermore, why is it that most people who have never earned a salary before, become heavily indebted within a few years of them becoming earners? Why is it most educated professionals also become indebted, too? Why is it that most people who earned, won or inherited a lot of money and were ‘rich’ at one point, but have declared themselves over-indebted or bankrupt? Why do few people rise during the pandemic and many perish financially and socially?
The solution is to look beyond earning more and more money. To find answers beyond the legacy of history, beyond systems of the world, the culture of the world, and how all these shaped the financial
