First and foremost, a million thanks for your interest in this book. I wholeheartedly believe that the few moments you spend reading this material will be well worth it. Before we get to the main course, I’d like to take a few moments to briefly share with you my motivation for writing this book because I believe it will help put the material that we are about to discuss in the proper context.
Just like every hard-working person out there, you most likely dream of retiring one day down the road, perhaps sooner than later. What is your definition of retirement? Perhaps you envision yourself in a period of complete financial security when you’ll kick back and play golf or enjoy your favorite pastime whenever you feel like it. Or it might be traveling to spend time with friends and family, spoiling your grandchildren and great-grandchildren, volunteering for your favorite charity, and whatever else you might have on your retirement bucket list.
Most folks are aware of the fact that in today’s world of disappearing employer pensions, the dream of living in financial security during retirement falls squarely on their very own shoulders. As a result, they generally do what they know to be prudent and necessary to prepare for their golden years: they roll up their sleeves every day and work tirelessly over the years, diligently saving and investing as much money as they possibly can, all in an attempt to achieve a decent lifestyle in retirement.
