    Book Review (Excerpt)

Personally, I’m blessed as I read your writing and reflections on Genesis 26. This is a very typical Pentecostal way to read and understand the Bible. By making the stories of the Bible ours, and reading them through our experiences without imposing our thoughts on the text, we allow the text to speak to our context. In this way, the Scripture always speaks to us today. Guided with questions for reflection, readers will be directed to reflect on their personal lives and find the answers to the questions in a personal way.

Since my studies are mostly in biblical teaching, most of my comments would be in that area. Your understanding of the text is superb. Each idea is presented with supporting thoughts based on the text. I have no major concern on your writing when it comes to biblical teaching of the Bible.

I have some additional notes, based on what I have learned from Hebrew grammar and syntax. I also show some different interpretations of certain texts in your writing. By saying that it is in the area of interpretation, it is therefore not a matter of right or wrong. Probably, supporting ideas are not presented in more details intentionally, due to the length of the writing. And that is just fine. Even if you don’t make any changes, your writing is inspiring and motivating. However, if there is a better way to understand the text, we as learners should consider different thoughts and perspectives, at least to broaden our understanding of the text.
