About this ebook

"Pat Harding is everything but a good kid." They insist. My change of behavior is not something my ridiculously blended family can tolerate. But do they really no the cause of it? No they don't because they don't care and believe I'm going to have a very miserable life in the coming days.

In this first book of the series' it's about to go down!' I have tried to illustrate the sequence of events that led to poor- decision making, but give no room for regrets as the choices I've and still making are because there are no other suitable alternatives. As life continues, I have a feeling more drama is about to unfold.

    Blood ain't Thicker - Pat A.O

    Acknowledgement.

Iwould like to thank the Almighty for the courage and strength given upon me to be able to talk about what I have seen and come to understand about human nature.

    Declaration.

The sequence of events portrayed in this book are solely my own points of view according to what I have experienced. I do not in any way intend to criticize the existence of blended families as I too come from one and from the fact that every good thing must have disadvantages.

I do not in any way intend to gain self pity but rather explain that when someone changes their behavior it's because circumstances forced them to.

    Disclaimer.

Names and locations of where the events took place have been changed to protect the identities of the people involved and the places they occurred as this is not a work of fiction.

    PROLOGUE

One thing for certain was that I couldn't stay any longer. My stay there had expired. Though she couldn't kill me,she had alternatives to make me learn my lesson. A lesson that taught me how she could make my life miserable if I tried to tamper with her life. Even if I decided to spill the beans, she had a plan. Come on they always have a plan. A way out in case things got hotter and would do everything in their power to appear as the victim.

After reading those messages,I knew I had to act quick because my August holiday had been ruined...Things were about to go berserk for me and not for them. You are a child they are adults. In an African home, there is a thick line separating the two.I had to do it. There was no alternative and one thing for sure, that ten-minute long action cost me dearly.

    CHAPTER 1

S o you brought them here so that you would mistreat them because you are not under my watch? She asked contemptuously. I couldn't answer back. That would only earn me a beating later in the night on accounts of disrespect.Lina Harding had just arrived at Shirleen Christoph's ninth birthday party.

It was a norm for the residents of Amani Tiwi Estate to support each other in good and bad times. This was one of the good times. I wouldn't let anything ruin this day for me.Not even a scolding from my mother.Calling her by her name or referring to her as my step-mother would earn me a beating on accounts of disrespect and lack of regard.

I had gotten used to watching my back in the Harding household. At this point in my life I had gotten more than enough beatings a child would receive. I only tickled her.Just like how a sister would tickle her younger sister during happy moments. What ruined the happy moments was that she laughed until tears flowed down her cheeks.

Christina Harding is  my half-sister. I've never liked referring to her like that as it made it seem like we were not family at all. Honestly speaking, that is a fact I came to realise later... My relationship with the Martins was purely  a circumstantial one. After that incident, I swore on my life that I would never in my life try to bond with my step-siblings.

I am a high- school student and my name is Pat A.O. (
