    In the middle of a dark forest, a small old sandstone church stood. At one time, it could easily seat 100 parishioners.

    But now one person was alone inside with no one to comfort her.

    Bobbi Adler sat in one of the whitewashed pews and noticed a faded red cardinal in the stained glass window.

    I always liked the color red, she said to herself as she blew her own ginger shaded hair from her eyes.

    Thanks to the candlelight that glowed around the room she saw her gray blouse was torn at the sleeve and her black pants were ripped.

    The door in the back of the church suddenly swung wide open and as heavy boots beat the wooden floor boards. She quickly picked herself up and spun around to see him.
