    The sun was about to set on Bartholomew Mullins.

    He decided earlier that day he was going to kill himself, and he would spend his final moments in this world watching the sun set in a deer stand that belonged to a friend.

    Barty, as he was known to his few friends, was huffing down a mountain path that had been marked out by rangers several years ago. On either side of it, ivy stretched and intertwined between the brown oak trees and the darker green pines of the Roma Forest which was located in the heart of the Allegheny Range in the center of Pennsylvania.

    With every stomp of his heavy boot, he huffed in concert. When he inhaled back, he could smell the earthy fragrances blowing from the trees. The Roma Creek burbled along the path.

    C'mon, Barfbag! Keep moving! said the voice in his head.
