Crochet Symbols
Most designers use a standardized set of crochet symbols in their diagrams and charts. This enables crochet artists who speak any language to be able to understand the crochet pattern. A key will tell you the symbols and their meanings for most charts. Look for the key before you begin to work a diagram. Also keep in mind symbols stand for different stitches in the UK. I’ve provided a chart to help you translate the meanings from UK to US in this chapter. The designer may have specific symbols unique to the diagram that you need to know so always look for the key to the diagram or
