A GRANNY A WEEK

MAKE A HANDBAG

Crochet two of any of the squares you prefer. This bag was made with Granny Square 4 (see the pages overleaf for instructions).

Work rnds 1 to 8 of Granny Square 4 (or all the rnds of the square you use).

Rnds 9-10: With right side of squares facing you, start in the corner on right-hand side of any of the two squares. Make one row sc using Blue Red from one side to the other 25sc, ch1, turn, 1sc and crochet 23 beads into every sc from prev rnd, 1sc at end of rnd. Fasten off. [= 25 sc + 23 beads] Rnd 11: Using Forest, make 25 hdc. Fasten off. [= 25 hdc]

Rnds 12-14: Using Aubergine, work one row hdc [= 25 hdc at end of row], ch2, turn, make 25hdc, ch1, turn, work one row of sc [= 25 sc]. Fasten off. Rnd 15: Using Lime, starting in the corner at the left-hand side, work 25 crab sts (crab st is also known as reverse sc, because each st is the same as sc, but you work in the opposite direction). Fasten off.

Rep for your other square. Weave in all loose yarn ends. For the pompom strip
