About this ebook

Play Some Funk is the fantastical, psychedelic creation of a young boy’s mind from many lifetimes ago, coming to fruition, good versus evil, and there is a war going on. Jacob’s world is very similar to Philip Pullman’s world in terms of a collective consciousness, though it is not quite the same, I guess he has The Almighty One to thank for that!

This is a story told in the form of a poem, is inclusive of Henry Johnson’s original title Jacob, and is also a continuation of that. You do not need to have read Jacob to read this. Play Some Funk will appeal to children and young adults alike, or anyone who loves fantasy, and I hope you enjoy reading this, as much as he did writing it!

Play Some Funk - Henry Johnson

    Dedication

This book is dedicated to all of the people who have inspired me in pursuing this work, including my dear friend Gavin Bolton who saw a talent in me, and encouraged me. Also a big thank you to Kate Tempest, who influenced me with her colossal gift. Thank you, all.

    Part One

    This started out,

As a girl and a villain,

    She was so pure,

    And he preyed on women.

    An unfortunate soul,

She was attacked in the night,

    Covered in blood,

    And full of fright.

    The aftermath,

    Spread like a disease,

    No-one could stop it,

    There wouldn’t be peace.

    She was true,

    And he was evil,

    They were divided,

    These were her people.

    *

    The intelligent war,

    Borne in Jacob’s mind,

    Needless to say,

He is one of a kind.

    The kind of boy,

    Who is loyal and just,

    Avenging this evil,

    Is something he must.

    The bad in this world,
