She's the One - Avery Summer

    Prologue

Vivian Dutoit had always, inexplicably, believed that one day she would fall impossibly in love.

She grew up in a small town and she always knew that in some way she was different from the other kids. Not fitting in was a familiar feeling, but she couldn’t really explain it. When she was a teenager, it seemed like the students at her school suddenly became quite vocal about how and why she didn’t belong. Apparently, they knew something that Vivian didn’t: the truth. She was bullied, and in a way, it was a blessing, as Viv slowly came to realize that the kids were correct - she was gay.

It wasn’t easy, ignoring the taunts and her darkest fears. But Viv’s favorite part of the day was when she finally got to drift off to sleep and spend a few moments thinking about what her life might become one day. In her fantasy, she would meet the woman of her dreams and it would be love at first sight. Viv wasn’t sure how she would recognize her, but when the timing was right, she believed that love would find a way.

So, it felt like fate when Vivian Dutoit met Savannah Jeffries. Their eyes met, and Viv felt her heart beating faster, like it was about to explode out of her chest. Savannah smiled at her and it felt like a scene from a movie. The world slowed down, and all the clichés came true. Without even knowing her name, Viv knew that Savannah was the one.

Unfortunately, the timing was terrible. Vivian’s life had never been straightforward. There were a million reasons to stand idly by and let Savannah Jeffries walk out of her life. But deep down, Vivian knew that this woman would change her life. The only challenge that remained was to convince Savannah of this simple truth, to let her know that despite how crazy it sounded, they were destined to be together.

    Chapter 1

    Girl Next Door

Before Savannah Jeffries stole her heart and turned her world upside down, Vivian Dutoit had tried to live her life one day at a time. She didn’t want to be a bartender at Later Tonight forever. It wasn’t that she hated her job, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that her real life hadn’t started yet. Sometimes, she felt like she was trapped and that she was simply waiting to be freed. However, she was not some young, chaste, innocent princess. In fact, most of the nights she spent at the bar turned out to be quite a lot of fun.

Vivian got to talk to new people and watch as they got to celebrate the good times or commiserate the bad. If she felt like flirting, she could usually pick up a phone number or two during her shift, as long as she gave all the right signals to the ladies she liked. Occasionally, a man would try to chat her up too, but she was pretty adept at shutting them down with a single look or a sarcastic comment. For the most part, Vivian loved what she did; she liked the attention she received, and she usually earned pretty
