She Just Wanna Love a Thug - Charmanie Saquea

My mouth fell open, and my legs began to shake. Seeing Washington on his knees was something I always dreamed of in the past. I never expected him to propose in the hot weather with sweat dripping down his face. This wasn’t romantic at all, and this wasn’t right.

    WWHHHHHHATTTTTTTT!

Damn, girl, can you hear me? I asked, will you marry me?

You can’t be serious right now, Washington. After all that drama, you want to marry me?

I know a lot of shit has happened in our relationship, and I can admit my wrongs. I don’t want to lose you, baby girl, and I want to make everything right between us. So, I’m going to ask you again, will you marry me?

I-I-I-I can’t do this right now, Washington, I have to go.

I grabbed the box from Washington’s hand, running into the house.

I LOVE YOU, DONATELLA, AND I’LL BE BACK.

Entering the house, I crept to the window watching Washington. With a smile on his face, he got into his car driving off. My breathing was heavy, and I felt on edge while leering at the box. He made me want to scream at the top of my lungs. This day, I dreamed about it, but not like this. My proposal should’ve been romantic and meaningful. Not in 93-degree weather full of hate towards Washington.

GUYS! I yelled, grabbing everyone’s attention. Within seconds, they ran down the hall in a panic.

    Donatella, what’s wrong? Chyna asked.

I tried speaking, but I was out of breath. My hands shook as I opened the box grabbing the ring. I held it in the air waiting for a reaction. When no one said anything, I maneuvered it on my finger.

Chyna walked closer to me asking, Is that a ring on your finger?

Yea, it’s a wedding ring. Washington just asked me to ma-ma-marry him!

The Leo Diamond one-carat engagement ring was arresting. I hadn’t seen anything this beautiful in my life.

WHAT?! Yanking my hand, Chyna stared at the ring, not realizing her screaming gave me a headache.

Princess’ eyes extended wide, asking, Donatella, what the fuck, are you serious right now?

Donatella, say something, are you for real? Rihanna asked. I wiped the sweat from my forehead, exhaling. Then I gently pulled my hand from Chyna’s tight grip. I needed to gather my thoughts, but it felt like nothing made sense anymore.

Did he put it on your finger? You know once he put a ring on it, you are his, Rihanna said.

No, he didn’t. He didn’t get a chance to do that. I got so nervous running into the house, I put it on myself, I replied.

Sis, this ring looks great on your finger. I can’t stand Washington, but that nigga has great taste in rings, Rihanna explained.

Hell, yea, it’s like it was tailor-made for you, Princess replied.

I know you were shocked at the proposal, but are you going to marry him? Chyna asked.

You better not. You’re not ready for a marriage, Princess shouted.

I’m not going to marry him. I know I’m not ready for marriage. It’s just fucked up how I used to dream about this day. Now that it’s here, it’s nothing close to what I dreamed of. I felt my emotions unraveling, and I didn’t want to talk about this anymore. Rushing down the hall, I abruptly stopped in the middle, exhaling. A glance at the ring made my heart skip a beat.

Princess chased behind me grabbing my shoulders with a sad look on her face.

What’s wrong, sis, and why are you crying? I hate when you cry because of him.

Why would he do this to me now? I sobbed.

Aaawwww, sis, it’s okay. You don’t have to cry because of this.

I need to lie down before I faint. Let’s go into my room. Everyone followed behind me like soldiers entering Rihanna’s room. Rubbing my throbbing temples, I flopped on the bed next to Chyna.

What are you going to do, Don Donna? Chyna asked.

What do you mean, what is she going to do? What she’s NOT going to do is marry him. Yea, that’s what she’s not going to do, Rihanna said.

Let me clear my throat and ask Donatella that question again. DON DONNA, what are you going to do?

I’m not going to marry Washington now or ever. I need to call him, tell him no, and give him his ring back. It’s a beautiful ring, but I can’t keep it.

I think you should continue avoiding his ass and make him wait. I’ll rock that ring like I never rocked a ring before. Chyna laughed.

Chy is right, play his ass like a damn fool. You need to play him how he played you and end things for good. Shit, I would tell him that I lost the ring, and pawn it. That could be his way of paying you for your pain and suffering. Princess leaned against the dresser with an attitude, shaking her head. When she heard a knock at the door, she pranced out of the room.

Girl… shut uuupppppp. I dropped my head laughing. Seconds later, she reentered Rihanna’s room rocking a huge smirk on her face.

    What? I stood up asking.

Donatella, someone is at the door for youuuuuu. Damn, girl, you’re booming like a trap house on the Hill. Princess smiled and pointed down the hall.

    Who is it? I asked.

Let’s just say it’s not Washington with your wedding dress. It’s that fine ass boy, Akbar! How in the hell do you know him? I didn’t even know y’all knew each other.

We do, we’re in the same A and P class. I forgot we were linking up today. Princess, will you still watch Iyana like you promised?

Yea, go ahead, girl, and have fun, she brushed me off.

    Okay, see y’all later, bye.

Running my fingers through my hair, I walked outside catching Akbar off guard standing at the edge of the porch. He leered at the ground with an innocent glare on his face.

Akbar looked good as hell in his blue, V-neck t-shirt and white True Religion jeans. The ripped knee area gave him a punk rock, but thuggish look. He had a shoe fetish, so Akbar’s all-white Air Force Ones were white like a brick of coke. He wasn’t a drug dealer, but he still had street ways. Akbar came from a good family, but at the age of six, his family gave him up for
