About this ebook

This fascinating book details interactions between people and angels, demons, and unclean spirits; the shocking slaughter of innocent children; the calling of the first disciples, and the heavy cost of discipleship; numerous accounts of demon-possessed children, adolescents, and adults; corruption at various levels of government and church; and immense miracles, wonders, and healing worked through and by the hands of Jesus and his followers.

Believed to have been written by the apostle Matthew, one of the original twelve disciples of Jesus, between A.D. 60 and 65, this book delivers a unique and seemingly firsthand account of the King of Israel's rejection by his own people, church conceived deception, and the coming judgment and glorious return of Jesus Christ.

A completely revitalized version of the Holy Bible in plain English, the Regeneration Translation has been carefully updated to modernize archaic numerology, words, and phrases, while maintaining the original character and integrity of earlier translations.

    Chapter 1

1 The book of the ancestry and family history of Jesus the Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

2 Abraham fathered Isaac; and Isaac fathered Jacob; and Jacob fathered Judah and his brothers; 3 and Judah fathered Perez and Zerah by Tamar; and Perez fathered Hezron; and Hezron fathered Ram; 4 and Ram fathered Amminadab; and Amminadab fathered Nahshon; and Nahshon fathered Salmon; 5 and Salmon fathered Boaz by Rahab; and Boaz fathered Obed by Ruth; and Obed fathered Jesse; 6 and Jesse fathered king David.

And king David fathered Solomon by her who had been Uriah’s wife; 7 and Solomon fathered Rehoboam; and Rehoboam fathered Abijah; and Abijah fathered Asa; 8 and Asa fathered Jehoshaphat; and Jehoshaphat fathered Joram; and Joram fathered Uzziah; 9 and Uzziah fathered Jotham; and Jotham fathered Ahaz; and Ahaz fathered Hezekiah; 10 and Hezekiah fathered Manasseh; and Manasseh fathered Amon; and Amon fathered Josiah; 11 and Josiah fathered Jechoniah and his brothers, about the time of the exile to Babylon.

12 And after the exile to Babylon, Jechoniah fathered Shealtiel; and Shealtiel fathered Zerubbabel; 13 and Zerubbabel fathered Abiud; and Abiud fathered Eliakim; and Eliakim fathered Azor; 14 and Azor fathered Sadoc; and Sadoc fathered Achim; and Achim fathered Eliud; 15 and Eliud fathered Eleazar; and Eleazar fathered Matthan; and Matthan fathered Jacob; 16 and Jacob fathered Joseph who was Mary’s husband, by whom Jesus was born; this same Jesus who is called the Christ.

17 So the sum of the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David to the exile to Babylon fourteen generations; and from the exile to Babylon to the Christ fourteen generations.

18 Now the birth of Jesus the Christ happened like this. At the time Mary his mother had been promised to Joseph in marriage, and before they had sexual relations, she was found to be pregnant by the Holy Spirit.

19 And her husband Joseph, who was a righteous man, unwilling to make a public example of her, decided in his heart to divorce her privately. 20 But when he contemplated on how to divorce Mary privately, look, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and spoke to him, saying, Joseph, ancestor of David, do not be afraid to take Mary to yourself to be your wife; because the baby she is carrying is of the Holy Spirit. 21 And she will give birth to a son, and you will name him JESUS, because he will save his people from their sins and wrongdoings.

22 Now all this happened that the event may come to pass which was spoken of by the Lord through the prophet, saying, 23 Look, the virgin will become pregnant and will give birth to a son; and they will name him Emmanuel; which means, by interpretation, God is with us.

24 And Joseph got up from his sleep, and did as the angel of the Lord ordered him, and took his wife to himself; 25 and he did not have sexual relations with her until after she had given birth to a son; and he named him JESUS.

    Chapter 2

1 Now shortly after Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea in the time of King Herod, look, wise men came to Jerusalem from the east and spoke, saying, 2 Where is the one who is born King of the Jews? Because we noticed his star in the east, and have come to worship and pay homage to him.

3 And when King Herod heard their sayings he was deeply concerned, as were all the people of Jerusalem with him. 4 And he gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, and asked them where the Christ would be born.

5 And they spoke to him, saying, "In Bethlehem of Judea; because it is written through the prophet:

6 ‘And you Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are in no way the smallest among the princes of Judah; because a leader will come from you, and he will be the ruler of my people Israel.’

7 Then Herod called the wise men to himself in private, and learned from them the exact time the star appeared. 8 And he sent them on their way to Bethlehem and spoke to them, saying, Go now and search thoroughly for the exact location of the young child; and as soon as you have found him, bring me a full report; so that I too can come, and worship and pay homage to him.

9 So the wise men proceeded on their way after listening to the king’s instructions; and look, the star which they noticed in the east went on ahead of them until it was set and placed over the exact location of the young child. 10 And seeing the star, they were very happy and rejoiced with an exuberant joy. 11 And they went into the house, and took notice of the young child who was with his mother Mary; and they fell down and worshiped and paid homage to him; and they opened their treasures to him, and offered him gifts of gold and frankincense and myrrh.

12 And having been forewarned by God in a dream that they should not turn back to Herod, they left for their own country using an alternate route.

13 Now after they had left, look, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and spoke to him, saying, Get up, and take the young child and his mother, and take flight into Egypt; and remain there until I tell you otherwise, because Herod will look for the young child to utterly destroy him.

14 And he got up, and took the young child and his mother in the night; and went into Egypt; 15 and they remained there until King Herod died, that the event may come to pass which was spoken of by the Lord through the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt, I did call my son.

16 So when Herod realized that he had been outwitted and deceived by the wise men, he became extremely angry, and gave orders for all the male children who were in Bethlehem, and in all the surrounding regions, to be violently murdered from two years old and downwards in accordance with the exact time he had learned from the wise men. 17 Then the event came to pass which was spoken of through the prophet Jeremiah, when he spoke, saying,

18 In Ramah a voice was heard, crying, mourning, and a great lamentation; Rachel crying out for her little ones; and she refused to be comforted, because her children are no more.

19 And later when Herod was dead, look, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream while he was in Egypt and spoke to him, saying, 20 Get up, and take the small child and his mother; and go to the land of Israel, because those who plotted to murder the small child are now dead.

21 And he got up, and took the young child and his mother; and they went to the land of Israel. 22 But when he heard that Archelaus was ruling over Judea in the place of Herod his father, he was afraid to go there; and having been warned by God in a dream, he retreated into the region of Galilee, 23 and arrived and stayed in a city named Nazareth, that the event may come to pass which was spoken of through the prophets, when they spoke, saying, He will be called a Nazarene.

    Chapter 3

1 And at that time John the Baptist appeared publicly, and was preaching and proclaiming openly in the wilderness of Judea; and he spoke, saying, 2 Reconsider your ways and change your thinking, because the kingdom of heaven is near and approaching.

3 John was the one who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah when he spoke, saying, The voice of one crying out in the wilderness who will speak, saying, ‘Make the Lord’s road ready, and cause his paths to be level and straight.’
