    Introduction

Congratulations on downloading Wicca for Beginners and thank you for doing so.

The following chapters will discuss the philosophies and religious practices of Wicca. We aim to provide reliable insight into the culture of Wicca and its practices from its inception to modern times. While Wicca often gets lump summed in with other practices like Satanism and Paganism, Wicca itself is much different.

Wicca has had its ups and downs in the magical community, booming in popularity shortly after its beginning, and today in full force as magic and other nature-focused practices enter the popular culture once again. This acceptance of magic and pagan influenced religions in recent years has added a sense of validity to these practices in a world gradually abandoning materialism and atheism. The ideas of duo theism and polytheism have been practiced for many centuries and are well-documented in writing. Wicca draws much of its inspiration from these pre-Christian cultures and their practices, while also applying the twentieth-century lens on the organization and initiations, similar to Victorian-era hierarchal societies.

With this new boom in acceptance of nature worship and magical practice Wicca has seen a rebirth as seekers of all walks of life search for insight into the subtle forces all around us. Communion with nature and other intelligence is a central focus for Wicca and many other of these movements. This book’s purpose is to help the seeker begin their journey on a natural path, to empower themselves to make their own spiritual choices and walk the path safely.

While many may look at Wicca and scoff at the dress and history of the religion, the practices and rituals within the Wiccan sphere are very potent. This is not a live action role play or fantasy acting. These forces are very real and the potency of these forces should be taken lightly. Anyone who has ever been curious about magic essentially has already begun their path. Rarely does any individual who starts this journey turn back unchanged. Communion with nature and its forces should not be for fun or treated as just another weekend activity.

These things are very real and should be treated with respect and humility when approached by the beginner or the adept. There is danger and you will change, whether the changes are subtle or dramatic. Do not approach these practices heedlessly and be sure to take the necessary precaution when you are engaging with these forces. This is not a hobby, but a lifestyle that aims to build relationships with spirits, in nature and all around us.

Approaching magical techniques and rituals can be confusing or even intimidating at first; this is to be expected. Our western society has effectively eliminated communion with spirits from the popular sphere. It is regarded as ‘not real’ since it cannot be proven scientifically. There are some things science cannot prove and our society is coming to terms with that. Many of the promises science offered in the past decades have not come to fruition.

Science is valuable, but is certainly not the end all be all of explaining and experiencing reality. This is where Wicca and other magical studies come into play. Many feel it is the duty of the magical practitioner to do this spiritual work to rebuild the relationship between humans and our friends who also inhabit this reality, even if it’s interdimensional or beyond our sensory perception. This may sound complicated, but just like any skill it takes time, practice and experience.

While Wicca and magic are not meant for everyone, many people feel drawn to these practices, this is essentially the preliminary steps to building these skills. If you feel that you need to explore these ideas, then it’s recommended that you at the very least research it. Who knows how many people feel drawn to these philosophies but push them aside in favor of science or materialism. This can be disheartening as popular culture is successful in convincing the masses that spirits aren’t real, and that there is no other intelligence inherent in nature.

Living without this relationship in our lives can be seen as a life half lived. All the power, all the knowledge and all the healing available in nature are waiting patiently for our attention. Waiting patiently, but not silently, we hear her call, but do not listen. This is foolishness at its finest.

Why ignore all the insight and potential empowerment that surrounds us? Could this be what’s missing in our mundane lives? Could technology benefit from combining its influence with the forces of nature? Is humanity slowly extinguishing itself by eliminating nature? These questions can be contemplated for a lifetime. But as individuals, we can make better choices to benefit ourselves and our fellow man.

In the chapters to come we will explore Wicca and how the religion can lead us to communion with nature, rebuilding a love that is as old as time. We will go over the basics of Wicca’s history, practices, gods, goddesses, magic, herbs, crystals and everything in between. These practices are what humans have been performing for untold centuries, ensuring we live harmoniously with nature, empowering ourselves through the forces of the Earth. Let’s begin this journey.

There are plenty of books on this subject on the market, thanks again for choosing this one! Every effort was made to ensure it is full of as much useful information as possible. Please enjoy!

    Chapter 1: What is Wicca?

One common misconception about Wicca is that it’s an ancient practice passed down through the centuries by initiates to new practitioners. While the practices within the Wiccan sphere are loosely based on ancient traditions and pagan natural magic, Wicca itself is relatively young. Many adherents of the religion claim it to be a true pagan practice passed down from prehistory, but there is little proof of this lineage within the communities. For our intents and purposes in this book we will follow the recent history of the religion.

Wicca is certainly influenced by some pagan beliefs and practices, but much of its structure and ideas come from
