Obsession Part 2 - E.J. Adams
CHAPTER 1
I’d stepped out of the claw foot tub in my bathroom and was on my way to my large walk-in closet to moisturize and change for my evening out with Blake. My apartment was in a nice old neighborhood surrounded by other historic brownstones. The space wasn’t huge but it had been updated, hence the closet space, and it was a great size by New York City standards. To show its age it still had radiator heating and old building noises that could wake me up with a start. The architecture and finishes held old world charm and the entire building offered a touch of luxury.
From the clean brilliant marble floors, to the tiny French lift, I knew I wanted it the moment my broker found it. It was only a few blocks from my dance studio and there was room for a piano.
My phone rang just as I’d finished my usual moisturizing routine. I pulled a kimono robe around me and went out to get it.
I saw it was Ian before I answered and almost didn’t pick up. I wanted to talk to him but it was strange to chat before my dinner with another man.
Hello beautiful,
he said when I answered.
Hello yourself,
I said sitting back into a large vintage smoking chair I’d found on the lower east side a few months ago. Are you in London right now?
Taking tea,
he said and I could hear the smile in his voice. I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed my recent visit with you in New York.
It was nice.
It seemed silly to withhold information about going to dinner with a producer from Ian, but I was hesitant to tell him and I wasn’t quite sure why. He may be another man but this was also work related. Ian and I had been lovers when I was in London but there had never been anything exclusive about our relationship. I liked him very much—the sex was very good, but I had never seen myself in a serious relationship with him. Mostly because I didn’t think it possible. I was a New Yorker he was a Londoner. Simple as that.
How did the opening go last night?
Ian asked.
Incredible.
I knew it would.
I smiled thinking of our last romp when he had been in New York. I actually have to get going, I have dinner plans tonight.
Eva?
Ian asked.
I hesitated too long. If I had just been able to say that it was Blake right off it wouldn’t have seemed awkward. But, as it was, it sounded like I was withholding information or that I didn’t want to tell him.
No, actually I’m going with someone else...this producer I met at the airport coming back from London.
A producer?
For film. He’s interested in having me in a movie he’s producing.
There was silence on the other line, then Ian cleared his throat.
Blake Preston.
I said as casually as possible.
"Right, I think I’ve heard of him. There was an article about him in the Financial Times. His whole family, actually. They are major players in real estate and finance."
That makes sense.
Well,
Ian said clearing his throat again. I guess I should let you get to it then.
Yes. I haven’t even dressed yet. I’m just out of the bath.
Normally I would expect to hear Ian make some sort of suggestive comment. That he would have liked to join me or something of the kind, but he didn't. Have a good time,
was his only reply.
It’s just dinner,
I said, getting upset with myself again. Why would I say that and in such a defensive manner. I’m not really interested in the film, but I thought I would hear him out.
I wasn’t about to say how physically attracted I was to Blake—that he borders on the irresistible. I didn’t say it, but there was something about Ian’s manner that told me maybe he could sense it.
Always good to stay on top of your options,
he said in a much lighter mood than I thought he felt. Poor choice of words on his part. Now all I could think of was being on top of Blake, screwing his brains out. I'm not even sure where all that was coming from. Besides the raw sexual magnetism Blake threw off just by
