Thank you for purchasing this book and supporting the author with your interest in poetry.

This particular collection of inspirational, romantic and also a generous helping of humorous poetry has been inspired by many different themes / poetry style prompts, including two of my favourite recurring forms - the ‘Sestina’ and the ‘Villanelle’. I really enjoy trying to find different ways to express myself with the language that I am using. I feel as if I am trying to solve a word puzzle and I welcome you the reader to follow along, as we solve it together!

Regarding specific people or things that have had an impact on this collection, I have been influenced by poets including Kay Ryan, Mary Oliver and Lewis Carroll, along with food recipes, especially cake (yummy!), trigonometry (maths in poetry? Yes, really!), cats and dogs (they’re cute, so obviously), tennis (seriously?) and even rebellion (but I do it like Tom Hanks, in a warm, fuzzy kind of way), so you know that the mix here is going to be quite an intriguing experience for you all.
