    Quarterback - Jess Winters

    Introduction

A steamy romantic ‘bad boy’ book revolving around the forbidden love between an athlete and a publicist. The two indulge in an intense love that disrupts their lives in more ways than one.

Steven is well known all over the city for his ways and his erratic, scrupulous reputation. Kate is a collected, independent and stable woman who can’t seem to get over him. She is madly in love and wants him all to herself.

With the world against them and the nature of the love between them, the two have it rough, but will external forces make their internal forces fade?

    Characters

    Kate Bersat – Publicist

Steven Wilson – Quarterback of the Atlanta Bulls (Athlete)

Rose – Kate’s best friend (Lawyer)

Mr. Bersat – Kate’s father (Coach of the Atlanta Bulls)

    Mr. Sutter – Kate’s boss

    Chapter 1 - Secret Lovers

Seeing him all over her made me die a million deaths inside. I didn’t like how his hand was glued to her thigh, and how he kept whispering sweet nothings into her ear. But I knew the rules; I was not supposed to care. Rose, my best friend, was right next to me and from the look on her face, I could tell that she didn’t like the pathetic display either.

What did you ever see in that guy Kate? she went on to ask, rolling her eyes.

I wish I knew the answer to that too.

Well, it is a good thing you dumped his ass.,

The look on her face was almost hilarious but it felt good that she was on my side. Although she did not know the whole truth, I was uneasy, but had a brave face on.

I am sorry, is he making you uncomfortable? Rose asked, after looking in his direction again We could always leave.

Girl, we have talked about this concert all week. I can’t leave because of my asshole ex.

Rose smiled excitedly at that, and I knew that she was not going to exit the premises willingly anytime soon. The Homeboys rock concert was the only thing we were looking forward to. I knew the Bulls would show up for the concert, but a little birdie had mentioned something about a certain person being engaged for the weekend. And by little birdie I meant Steven, my Prince Charming. I drew in a deep breath after looking in his direction again and noticed the ice queen that he was with. She looked happy in my man’s arms but the rules were clear, engraved with blood in my mind.

I have never liked this girl, Rose said above the noise, as she pointed to the pretty teenager singing her heart away and gyrating her behind to the rhythm of the music.  Her words made me divert my attention away from my ex, and I went on to look at the teenager curtain raising for the homeboy’s rock band. Her makeup was overdone and her dress looked too mature. Her stylist and publicist definitely needed to be sued for misrepresentation.

Be still my heart, I muttered, and went on to nod my head to the music. I was there to have fun and Steven would not ruin my night. A loud screeching scream escaped from Rose’s throat that made me partially deaf. I covered my ears immediately but let out an encouraging smile for her to scream more regardless. She handed me my favorite vodka concoction before screaming some more in a louder tune.

Drink up love, she gestured to the bottle and went on to jump up and down to the same teenager she had earlier
