About this ebook

Amee Colburn wants to leave the past behind by hiking up the highest peak of the Smoky Mountains, but there's a storm of attraction waiting for her at the top. Pierce Levy, the hot mountain man who owns the rustic camp she checks into, is dealing with a salacious error that only magnifies the carnal pull between them. Time spent with Pierce is challenging—not to mention dangerous and compelling—both on the trail and in a more intimate setting. For Amee, outdoor adventure has never been so stimulating.

Author

Marin Black

Marin has the mountains in her blood, heart, and soul. Her favorite romances would include an untamed setting (maybe an Irish ruin), a historical love affair (especially if there’s a ghost), or just a bad boy with a good heart. She loves to spend time with her son, hike, travel to wild and remote places, read, and camp in insanely crowded campgrounds—so she can burn all the food, keep the neighbors up all night with her campfire, and dream about what her characters will do next. And even though she writes “smut,” she still loves Jesus. At home, she loves to create new characters and their worlds, and is a freelance editor too. Steamy and adventurous, I enjoyed this quick short story. The chemistry and desire between [the characters] was believable and well written. I found it fun, light, and a sexy read.

Sparking red-hot. If you want a quick, dirty, and super fun read, pick up this story. Wow! I love erotic romances and this one sizzled! I really liked the characters and the HFN ending. Ms. Black still told a full, well-rounded story. I definitely recommend it.

    Taken by a Mountain Man

Thin mountain air and a stiff, cleansing wind whipped the breath from my lungs. I balanced the heavy pack on my back by leaning forward as I trudged up the last few yards of dirt and rock path.

At the top, I gulped in what would have been large lungfuls of air if the oxygen concentration had been higher. The muscles of my legs tingled from the hike up the mountain as I looked out at the stunning view of stark blue sky and mountain peaks that ranged from evergreen to black in color.

I’d just climbed to the top of the highest peak of the Appalachian Mountains. My lungs burned like they were filled with ice water, and I was a little light-headed, but I didn’t care. I’d done it.

A hawk cried, drawing my attention to where it perched on top of a flagpole that showcased the U.S. flag. Next to the pole was a crude shelter built from cedar that had a stone firepit in the middle—a gathering place for the camp’s inhabitants. Spread out over the rocky mountaintop were a dozen cabins, all of them small and primitive but well-built.

I took a deep breath as my heart finally slowed to a normal rate. I couldn’t believe I had arrived, much less climbed an entire mountain to get here. It wasn’t like me to go it alone, but I’d needed a good dose of self-sufficiency, and this was just the adventure to set that in stone.

A tiny, weather-worn cabin sported a sign with Office carved into the wood in crooked letters.

I dropped my heavy backpack with a thud on the bottom step and stared at the three short, log-hewn steps that led up to the porch and the front door of the office. My legs had taken me seven miles up this mountain, but now they felt as heavy as twin tree trunks.
