Fear, Anger, Love, Sorrow, Threatening, Shock, Confused, Hopeful, Desperate, and Betrayal.

10 drawing exercises – one for each theme.

10 writing exercises – one for each theme.

How To Use Our Prompts

Each prompt will list a hypothetical situation and a few suggested mediums to draw with, as well as suggested paths you can take with the prompt. You are not required to use the mediums listed, or to use the brainstorming sections. They are only suggestions.

Some prompts talk about you, but you don’t always have to draw/write yourself. You can make up a character, or characters, too!

The goal is to draw or write a piece of work using the prompts provided. How you get there is ultimately up to you.

Where might they be that they’re hearing something suspicious?

What might the environment be like?

Why are they there to begin with?

What might that noise be?

Should they be running from it?

Could it be a misunderstanding?

What does the noise sound like?

Brainstorm (Drawing) …

Think of a person’s body language when they’re scared.

Are they looking around? Are they frozen in place?

What might their facial expressions be?

Are their eyes tearing?

Are their teeth chattering?

Again, where might they be that they’re so spooked?

What is the environment like?

#2 – What are those things?! (F) (H) | (P) (G) (AP)

Brainstorm (Writing) …

What situation are they in that they would come across unknown creatures?

Is it actually an unknown creature, or perhaps something mundane – like exaggerated shadows?

Does the creature have any reaction to being discovered?

Is it scared? Defensive? Affectionate?

Is it even a creature at all?

What else might it be?

A new piece of technology? A terribly outdated pair of shoes?
