This is my world. Come inside. Step right up. Step right up. Don't be shy, come inside. The children run and play.Their elders watch and stay. Wonders you will see, visions filled with trees, the castles of my dreams, filled with bloody screams. Come and play the children say, live a lifetime while you stay. Come and play the children say, all the monsters you can slay. So stay a while, make me smile, move a tile, build a file, take it easy, get sleepy, stay dreamy, get weepy. As my world is turning, the fires deep are burning, to fill your heart with yearning, for all the things you're learning. There's always another ship of fools to take you to a grand old school, to be the big boss's tool and his fat bastard's fool. But have fun, run in the sun, pull out a plum, slap a bum, tumble and run, have fun in the sun. And if you lose a day or moon, don't swoon, pick up your stools and shoes, there's a grownup world of fools waiting for needless broken tools. The sun and the moon and the stars, they're really not that far, they grow within your heart, to reach it use my art.

He was so tired. What a day. Should have never woke up. But the work never sleeps. Ever. Just a quick drink of sunshine and get back to the grind.

    Master! Master!

What now? Keeper looked up Old Road. Joenee was yelling and waving as he ran. He'd warned Miller to stop fucking his daughters, every farmer knew not to breed in stock, but no, old man Miller couldn't keep his seed out of the bloodline. Look at that kid, thin, short, crooked teeth, and playing with a half deck, but shit, the boy could run like the wind.

Joenee stopped, bent over, panting, dripping, speaking words as he gasped in and out. Master. Lord. Lady. Coming. Road robbers. Sheriff.

Miller grabbed Joe by the shoulders and lifted him straight, the kid's face all splotchy, and felt a swell of pity.

Joe. Say that again, and he held Joe until the panting slowed.

In between deep breaths, Lord and Lady robbed. Need rooms, clothes, food. Warn town. Robbers. Gave me. This. Joenee showed the small gold coin he held tight in his fist, and made a lopsided, snaggletoothed grin.

By Bellus. Joe. Let me hold that for you. You might lose it. In the scrub. When running to town. The boy frowned. Joe. I would not take from you. I would not steal from a Lord. No take away Lord's gift. Joe nodded, handed over the coin.

Strange markings, but the weight felt right. Keeper bit the coin, the real deal. Robbers on the Old Road. That wasn't good. The balls on some folk. And shit for brains.

Joe. Come back here. After you tell Sheriff. I have wagon with grain. To go to mill. You ride back home. Now. Wait here. Wait. I'll get you some mead and water.

A Lord and Lady. In his inn. Bellus. Food he had, okay, not great. Clothes? Shit. He'd better send the girls out to get whatever fineries were to be had. A good coat or cloak at least. Stella. Estelle. Get your fat arses out here. Now.

It had been a mad flurry. Sending his three overnighters to the neighbours' farms. Cleaning and airing out his rooms. And the inn. Wiping down tables and chairs and mopping the floors. Even had the stable boys tidy up out back. Getting some nice foodstuffs. The girls had done well with some nice woman things
