Prologue – Crazy Like That

The elevator doors opened without a sound.

Eboni gasped!

A quiet shudder passed through her spine.

Wide-eyed and rooted to the spot, she stared with her jaw plopped open. For a few moments she did not move. When she eventually grasped the unfolding scene inside the burnished metal wall enclosure, her left palm flew to cover her mouth to muffle the noise she made.

But the slight murmur from her lips did not break the sex dance between the two people rocking hard against the wall, having grinding sex in the confined space.

Eboni gulped in more air, then jerked her head right and left to see if anyone else needed the occupied elevator. Nobody was about. So, she breathed a small sigh of relief.

It was almost midnight on Thursday, September 10th2014 in a 5-star hotel in San Francisco, a city in Northern California where she stayed for two nights to attend a Corporate Law Conference.

Inside the elevator, a tall, broad-shouldered man–with blondish brown twisted hair which brushed the collar of his dark tailored suit jacket–jerked his lean hips against the woman with chestnut hair and red polished fingernails digging into his shoulders. The woman’s pale hands clenched tightly around his neck while he thrusted in and out of her heat like some well-bred stallion.

In her opinion, these two were hooking up like over-sexed teens who could not wait to get into a random bed. Corking her head, Eboni wondered why two adults would abandon the secrecy of a hotel bedroom to have sex in a public elevator. She should stop watching, right? But she could not tear her eyes away. The woman’s black leather skirt had curled up high along her skinny thigh, she was almost butt-naked, yet, the buttons on her red top remained undone.

Still pinned to the front row spot, Eboni viewed the live porn rolling out in the elevator. She could not get inside. She did not walk away.

As the man suddenly jerked back and forth, his loosely belted dark pants sank along his toned thigh showing off tautened pale butt cheeks while the woman pressed her head against the elevator wall as she did her thing.

Eboni was sure there was no passion involved with these two. No wild moans or thrilling grunts. Just wild sex. Maybe they were even strangers, she surmised putting one finger on the flashing elevator button at last. She had seen enough.

As the elevator doors shut, the woman’s eyes flew open.

Crazy like that, Eboni took a snap shot of the coupling duo with her cell phone and turned away, deciding a walk down two flight of stairs was a better deal at the moment. She imagined the elevator would smell of raw sex anyway.

That was a little over five years ago.

One – Just Drinks

Thank you for your business, Mr Bronx, Rogers Pearson, CEO of Seaward Oil Corporation said to their latest client seated across the conference table.

The words that signalled the end of the hour-long meeting ripped up Eboni’s trip down memory lane. In the last two days, that sex scene had played on her mind. Each time she saw Mr. Bronx, the vivid sexual images flashed across her vision as if he had been in the elevator five years ago. It could not be. The billionaire and hotshot CEO of Jacuar Petroleum could not be so reckless, right?

It’s an honour to have your business, Andrew Graz, vice president of Seaward Oil added with a grin.

Have drinks with me, Ms Eboni, Jensen Bronx said smoothly the second her two bosses–attired in dark suits– gathered their papers.

A sharp inhale was Eboni’s shocked response before her widening eyes darted to her bosses. What the heck? Occasionally, some new clients had a tendency to believe that as head of Seaward & Co Law Firm, a division of Seaward Oil, she came with the package, but none had crossed the line so openly. None had done so with such impunity. She was not for sale for goodness sake!

I’m afraid I’ll have to decline your invitation, Mr. Bronx, Eboni parried with a sleekness that surprised her usually agreeable self. Company policy prevents me from socializing with clients. Even though she had never met a super-handsome white guy with long, blondish brown hair plaited into neat twists, she would never jeopardize her career for a night of spontaneous curl between his sheets. That was what she presumed he offered in his attractive hazel eyes and direct invitation.

Besides, if he was the same man who made out with that woman in the elevator in San Francisco five years ago, he was off limits for so many reasons.

Meanwhile, Jensen folded his arms on the table, his insistent eyes set on Eboni’s like twin steel blades.

To get rid of his intense gaze, Eboni swerved her eyes from the very blue suit straining around Jensen’s bulky upper arms. She returned her attention to the papers between her fingers, shuffling them around slowly.

Across the desk, Jensen lifted his eyebrows at Rogers and then shifted his stare to Andrew. I’m asking for a waiver. Ms Eboni would like to come out to drinks with me, but she needs your permission.

Nonsense! Eboni tapped her right palm on the black binder in front of her, before speaking through tight lips. Don’t misquote me, Mr. Bronx. I’ve no wish to have drinks with you and even if I did, I wouldn’t need anyone’s permission. Was this twelfth grade? Why would she need ‘permission’ to do whatever the heck she wanted?

Jensen’s thick pink lips stretched into a cocky grin and his chiselled, bearded jawline eased a notch as he leaned back in the seat. His gaze whipped across the walls of the conference room lined with several framed awards.

Why is that? Jensen’s deep voice demanded. You just said, company policy– he argued before she interrupted.

I know what I said, Mr. Bronx, she cut in without a care in the world. Seaward & Co Law Firm now works for you. Let us do our job without any out-of-hours inducement. As head of Seaward & Co, she reported directly to Rogers and Andrew and to no one else.

Jensen’s hair style was the same as the man in the elevator. Maybe that was where the similarity ended. But that did not stop her wondering about Mr. Bronx’s sexual appetite in the last two days. Was he a wild-stallion-in-the-elevator kind of man or the steady-bedroom type?

Rogers cleared his throat. We can come to an arrangement, Mr. Bronx, her CEO said in a pacifying tone. We’ve got a team dedicated to entertaining out-of-town clients and guests. Angelica heads that team, or I could take you on a tour around Charleston City. I can call, Angelica now if you prefer her to handle your–.

Lifting his right hand to stop Rogers mid-speech, Jensen turned his head in Eboni’s direction. Give me one good reason why you won’t have drinks with me tonight or tomorrow night? I’m a New Yorker, this is how we do business.

Hmm. She noted the silver ring with emerald stone on the fourth finger of Jensen’s right hand.

Sitting upright now, Eboni jutted out her cute chin. She felt as if she was seated on a booby trap. This had never happened. A client hounding her for a date in front of her bosses was not just infuriating, it was humiliating. Her personal life stayed out of the office building. This hotshot multi-billionaire from New York just put a price tag on her head and it was an insult every way she looked at it. Eboni clenched her fingers around her binder and swallowed.

I don’t owe you any explanations, Mr. Bronx. If it’s okay with you, gentlemen, I’ve got loose ends to tie with three other cases. I’ll be in my office.

Pushing back her seat, she stood. Men had a knack for underestimating corporate women. They always wanted women to compromise their morals, compromise their work ethics and everything else when needed, while they called the shots.

Rogers Pearson gave Eboni a nondescript nod as he rose to his feet while Andrew Graz’s pastel face sported twin red spots across his cheeks.

Mm-hmm. It seemed her bosses were not displeased with her uncooperative attitude or remarks. Not that it would have changed her mind even if they took offense at her curt responses. No man could buy her time or affection if she was not interested. Usually, she took everything on offer and then some, but Jensen’s insulting request was poorly-timed and arrogant to say the least. Come on, who asked a woman out in front of her superiors?

Outrageous!

Okay. It seems, Ms Eboni has an axe to grind with me, Jensen stated in a reconciliatory voice. Rogers, Andrew, why don’t you two leave us to sort things out?

Sending her superiors out was Jensen’s last option. The sharp-mouthed woman who had no wish to please a high-paying client caught his interest from the moment they met two days ago.

Jensen Bronx asked Eboni out for drinks immediately after the meeting ended because he knew she worked late every day of the week. A ‘no’ reply was the last thing he expected to hear from her fleshy, dark-red coated lips.

Although Jensen had been told by Rogers Pearson that despite the fact the brown-skinned woman dated often, she was emotionally unavailable, the subtle warning only served to power his interest. Of course, it was true some women played hard to get. But a man who could afford whatever they wanted easily pulled down their walls. Right now, he wanted a few hours alone with Eboni Houston.

Before Eboni moved a step from her seat, her bosses gave her quick nods and shipped themselves out of the door faster than she could swallow the lump Jensen presumed was stuck in her throat.

Hey! I find you interesting, he told her once they were alone. That’s rare in my circles.

Eboni reached for the glass of water to her right. She handled it with steady fingers and took a slow sip. So, I’m supposed to be what, grateful you took pity on me to ask me out to drinks?

His mind whirred with all the weird thoughts that occurred to him in the last forty-eight hours. Even though she wore a dark skirt suit that clung to her curves, her crispy white shirt revealed none of what he
