    Forget Me Not

Sinnamon Renee McKinley, Sin for short was gleefully executing her plan to woo her brother's best friend, Tyler Darden and make him fall madly in love with her. Why shouldn't he fall in love with me? she laughed to Nina, Tyler's sister, and her best friend. I love him more than any of the floozies he's dated.

And you do know he thinks of you as a kid right?

I'm going to change his mind, Sin boasted running her hands over her curves. I'm going to buy a dress that lets him know I'm no longer a kid."

Go ahead and your parents will make you stay home. No excuse you give will be good enough. With both of your parents being doctors, I'm surprised you fooled them even once with your fake illnesses, Nina laughed.

Parents are parents. It doesn't matter if they're doctors, or lawyers like yours. Their main concern will always be their children. My happiness comes before anything else with them. Besides, they love Tyler. They would never forbid me to go to prom with him.

Even if they don't, Tyler still thinks of you as just another little sister, he called you, my playmate, less than a week ago.

Sin's lips stuck out in annoyance. Playmate. He's crazy. We haven't been playmates since we were what, seven or eight? We're best friends and we're seventeen, almost legal.

And Tyler is twenty-four. He doesn't date minors. God, Sin what are you trying to do, have my brother arrested?

Almost everyone in your family is a lawyer. They'd get him off.

That is not funny. Your parents are doctors, but do you think I'd try to find a way to get them to do something that might get them in trouble. Tyler's in law school. He can't mess around with a kid.

Giving Nina a wicked smile, Sin wrapped her arms around her body and began making exaggerated kissing noises as she fell on her bed. Her hands moved up and down her torso imitating exactly what she wanted Tyler to do to her.

That is just gross. If you do it again I'll tell Tyler. You keep forgetting he's my brother. I don't ever want to think of him and you…Ew, that is so nasty.

It is not, Sin snapped. Why do all of you keep behaving as though it's wrong for me to want him? He's not my brother, he's yours.

And how would you like it if I started fawning over Tommy?

I wouldn't care. Besides, you'd never stand a chance with him. You're not his type. And more than likely he'd attempt to spank you if you came on to him.

And you don't think Tyler would want to do the same?

He might, but he's too nice to follow through. Tommy on the other hand would do it. Rubbing her hands over her behind she gave Nina a sideways glance. I can still feel the pain.

He gave you one swat and you deserved it. Yeah, he gave me one also didn't he?

It was worth it though, Sin said between laughs. The memory of her pillow swollen belly, a scheme her and Nina had cooked up to get rid of one of Tyler's girlfriend made her laugh even harder. Their plan worked, but Tyler had been so angry he hadn't spoken to either of them for over a month. Tommy on the other hand had yelled a lot, swatted each of them screaming that if they acted like babies they should be treated in that manner. They'd gotten into quite a bit of trouble with their parents for that scheme, enough that they shouldn't be in her bedroom planning another.

Still laughing, Sin wiped the tears from her eyes and smiled at Nina. You don't care that I'm in love with your brother or you wouldn't keep helping me. Come on, Nina, we have to make plans for my gown.

Something gold to pick up the undertones of your cinnamon complexion and hazel eyes. Nina held her arm against Sin's. Tyler says your skin looks like warm honey. But I guess when your dad named you; he was trying to be cute.

He said I was his sweet cinnamon cookie and wouldn't you know it, they named me that. It was also my dad who changed the c to an s and started everyone to calling me Sin.

I'd say you've lived up to the moniker. Nina plopped down beside her friend.

I wish my coloring was darker, more like yours. I'll have to get a tan to have any color.

Please, you're beautiful whether you're tanned or not, and your blue eyes are almost as stunning as Tyler.

You know, Sin, if we hadn't been friends before you went crazy and fell for my brother I'd think you were only using me to get next to him.

Nina started to move from the bed and Sin reached for her, pulling her back, hugging her and pleading with her not to be jealous. Listen, you're my best friend, we're always going to be best friends. Now come on, what color gown should I get?

Taking a look around the room at the purple walls partially covered with butterflies Sin and Nina gave each other a look and laughed. What else but purple, they agreed.

Hearing the voices downstairs they crept to the door. Okay, your stage is set. Tyler is here. Good luck and don't mention my name if he doesn't fall for it.

Waiting a decent amount of time Sin slowly crept down the stairs. There was a moment's hesitation as she followed the voices from the den. Her parents were in there with Tyler and Tommy. Sucking in a breath she recalculated her changes for success, realizing things couldn't have turned out better. Her father would naturally want to do anything to make her happy. Her mother would be suspicious, but she wouldn't want her to miss her prom. The only fly in the ointment that she could think of was her brother. He just didn't trust her.

With good reason, a tiny voice whispered. Of course there was no guarantee that Tyler would volunteer to take her to her prom because she was dateless, by choice, but that was something she was keeping between her and Nina. If history was any predictor once she turned on the waterworks Tyler would cave.

Hey, Sin said softly allowing sadness to coat her voice. She sighed, took in a deep breath and sighed again. What are you all doing? she asked making her way to the sofa, glancing at her parents and squeezing in between them in order to rest her head on her father's shoulder.

Are you okay? her father asked, turning worried eyes toward her.

Nina and I are going shopping for her prom dress next week.

    And?

Daddy, didn't you hear me? We're going shopping for her. I don't have a date. She waited until both Tyler and Tommy turned from their conversation to stare in disbelief at her.

Why don't you have a date? Tommy questioned suspiciously.

She'd known her brother would be the first one to ask that question. She hated that he was in law school with Tyler. He grilled her enough before he'd decided to make a career of it. Glaring at him, she lifted her head for a moment from her father's shoulder. Because no one asked me.

Sin, I can't believe that. Why wouldn't one of the boys in your class ask you to prom? You're beautiful.

Tyler thought she was beautiful. Suddenly she felt giddy. She wanted to spring from the couch and run straight into his arms. But that would be a dead giveaway. She wondered if anyone could hear her heart beating out of her chest. All eyes were on her. She was taking too long to answer. She bit her lips at the lie she was about to tell and guilt made the tears flow. I guess the boys at my school disagree with you, because I don't have a date for the biggest night of my life.

In Rapid succession they began firing questions at her, her mother, Tommy, her father, then Tyler. Before she'd planned to, Sin found herself bawling at the thought of not going to her prom. Heck, she didn't have a date, and the prom was important. If Tyler didn't take her she'd be devastated. With that thought she fell back on the sofa taking comfort in her father's soothing voice as she rested her head on his shoulder, crying when he looked at her. She did hate to lie to them, but this was serious business. She was in love.

Sin, stop your wailing, I'll take you to your prom.

Her brother's offer made her cry even harder. That hadn't been altogether an act. The thought of going to her prom with her brother was enough to give her chills and make her cry in earnest.

Tommy, I can't go to the prom with my brother. Are you kidding me?

    Then I'll take you, Sin.

Tyler had moved over to where she was perched next to her father. Her father moved away and Tyler took his position. He was rubbing her back causing all kinds of things to happen to her body. For a moment she thought she would explode. His touch filled her with yearning and something more. She wanted him. A soft moan filled her throat as she hurriedly attempted to cover the sound. She didn't dare look at him for fear that yearning would be in her gaze. How could it not?

When at last she could speak, she turned slightly toward him. You're not much better than Tommy, she huffed. You're just another brother. She glanced up from her tears to see the shocked look on Tyler's face. But she had to play it right, not let on that this had been her goal to begin with. Someone else would have to push Tyler on her, she couldn't accept so quickly.

Baby come on, Tyler said he'd help you. Let him take you.

Thank you, Daddy, she wanted to say but managed to stay in her solemn mode, holding out for several minutes while everyone pleaded with her not to miss her prom.

Sinnamon, I'd hate to see you miss your prom. You don't have to tell anyone I'm a surrogate brother.

    What about Nina?

    What about her?

We've always talked about double dating for the prom. She's not going to want to go with you. She'd have to tell Nina later that she'd changed the plan they'd had for years. It would be too much to have her first date with Tyler, with his sister staring at her in possible disapproval.

    Then we'll go alone.

Come on honey, Tyler doesn't look much older than you. Besides, we won't have to worry as long as you're with him.
