    Savannah had been moments away from an apocalypse and some group of do-gooding, wannabe hero immortals decided to stop it. Empusa wanted to take each one of them and slowly rip them apart, limb from limb. Who the fuck would want to stop something that would bring total chaos on the world? A fucking free for all, an endless buffet of carnage.

    Emmy, you’re getting that look. I know that look. We had an agreement.

    Empusa turned to Krael, her brow raised. I’m sorry, pet, but our agreement only extended to humans. Those immortal morons aren’t human, therefore, loophole.

    Of course, I do. Anything I can use to get what I want. She shrugged her shoulders as they continued to walk down Bay Street, toward the bar the four morons apparently owned. She wanted a little face to face with them, then she wanted to...

    Emmy, Krael said. You’re doing it again. And you wondered why I insisted on coming along.

    They stopped at the front entrance to Bay Street Brewery and she stepped up to him, her hands flattening against his chest. It’s because you’re my shadow, pet. You can’t seem to let me out of your sight. You enjoy being near me, you need to be near me.

    Krael grinned, not denying anything before he opened the door for her. Your shadow has never looked so good. Now, behave.

    She walked into the place and the first thing she noticed was it was empty, except for a woman standing behind the bar,
