About this ebook
As we all know life in today’s world can be difficult. Indeed with the introduction of technology, social etiquette, and a surge of stupid/unworkable rules and regulations; life in today’s world is most assuredly way more dangerous/complicated than that of yesteryear. The more I know covers many issues; both old and new facing us today, be it rules and regulations, racism, the law, gender and its/ her/his attached issues and last but by no means least stupidity! and all done with a sprinkling of humour. Humour notwithstanding, the term the more I know, the less I understand is what it says on the tin i.e. recognition that the more we seem to know, the more difficult it is to apply logic. Clearly, political correctness is the scourge of modern society. Generally, instead of standing up and fighting back, we run scared of retribution. Indeed all too often we take a step backwards for fear of recrimination when in actual fact what we need to do is stand up and be counted. Having said that, given the recurring consequences of doing so make this easier said than done; especially, given the downright lunacy and arrogance of those who should know better. If it wasn’t so tragic it would and often is hilariously funny as described in this book, confirming if confirmation was needed that common sense is rarely common

The More I Know - Jim Gardner
Chapter 1
Misogyny/Misogamy etc
Although Misogyny and Misogamy both look and perhaps on a windy day sound alike; truth is they are not! Whereupon Misogyny is the hatred of women; Misogamy is the hatred of marriage. Having said that both do have one thing in common; that is a hatred of the female of the species! 1st up; Misogyny
Misogyny
Misogyny; as far as I can figure isn't really; about men hating women and more about men fearing women. For example if a woman rejects a man for whatever reason, this manifests itself by way of making him feel pathetic, insecure, inferior etc which is why? When dumped, the man reacts by either slagging her off i.e. she's an ugly, cock-sucking cow etc.
Sometimes, when things get out of hand violence occurs and all because (as much as you guys don't what to hear this) women are deemed by men to be a threat to their self esteem and by definition their manhood.
Similarly, if a girl/woman dares to be a better motor mechanic than the sad bastard/guy she works with then, once again she becomes a target for name calling, slanderous, diatribe! As previously touched on; occasionally this inherent hatred of women manifests its way via physical attacks, including the horror that is rape! If she does she's a slag, if she doesn't she's frigid.
As we all know ‘the times they are a changing;’ but perhaps not in a positive fashion. For example lots (not all) women these days think nothing of going out on the town with their mates and getting hammered to such a degree they actually don't recollect shagging 3 blocks! Let alone, if they were wearing a condom! As Dylan says ‘the times they are a changing’
Misogamy
Aha! Now we come to the tickly bit. I don't quite know what to say about Misogamy (the hatred of marriage) other than, for those who are (perhaps a contradiction in terms) happily married; this does not apply. As for the rest; the term happily may seem a little O T. T. Then again, if you’re thinking of holding on to your assets i.e. big house, nice car etc then perhaps not!
In years gone by most, if not all, men were born to bully; while Women; it would seem, were born to be submissive. However, society has come along way since Neanderthal times. Nowadays the female of the species has become a different species! A species that in general terms no longer submits to the 'club and drag' mentality, indeed quite to the contrary.
Today’s females by and large fight their corner in convoluted ways; while sensible men (perhaps again a contradiction in terms) tend to opt for the least line of resistance by toeing the line. No longer are modern day women to be found in the kitchen, indeed not so long ago I jokingly took my wife to somewhere she'd never been, yep! You guessed it the kitchen!
Today's women are independent, self-assured and truth be told in many situations more logical than their male counterparts. Long may it continue and long may misogynists/Misogamists go shit in the desert!
Monogamy
The custom of having sexual relationship or marriage, with only one! Other person at a time! This statement is misleading. I didn't mean to suggest 'one, after the other' what I meant to say was 'one and only one with no 'A. N Other! Now wouldn't that be ticketty boo!
Bisexuality
As for 'Bisexuality!' all this really means is that you double your chances of a date; ergo by definition, simply a greedy bastard hiding behind a bi! Word
Chauvinism
And so to male chauvinism! Male Chauvinism is the (clearly outdated) belief that men are superior to women. The first documented use of the phrase male chauvinism
appeared in the 1935 American play 'Till the Day I Die' and on the basis that those of us who enjoy/want/crave sexual gratification i.e. the male of the species! We have become smart enough play the right game, thus with ref to chauvinism, it's clearly on its way out!
Polyamory
Polymory; is the practice of having sexual or a romantic relationship with two or more people at the same time. Similar to the Bisexual paragraph, although not sure if this applies to both men and women, either way Polyamorists are simply horny buggers!
Polygamy
Polygamy; is the custom/ idea of being married to more than one person at the same time. Excuse me, but who in their right mind would want to be married to 2/3/4 people at the same time; be they male or female; moreover; isn’t it illegal for a man or woman to add to the tally whilst still married to his/ her hubby/wife? See below
Bigamy
In cultures that practice marital monogamy; bigamy (not dissimilar to Polygamy) is the act of entering into a marriage with one person, while still legally married to another, and as a result considered a crime, in most western countries. In countries that have bigamy laws, consent from a prior spouse makes no difference to the legality of the second marriage, which is usually considered void Law. The crime of marrying while one has a spouse, still living, from whom no valid divorce has been affected. Think it was Oscar Wilde who said and I quote 'Bigamy is having one wife to many. Monogamy is the same'
P s didn’t want to mention it but you do realise it was ‘big –o- mi!’ to do so! Couldn’t resist it
Modern man
What’s it all about Alfie! Well the truth is I don’t rightly know. All I do know is that back in the day the mantra seemed to be that ‘men were men and women were grateful’ Oh! How times have changed. These day’s women seem to have overtaken modern man or at the very least, exchanged places
Modern man can, and often does look after the kids, water the plants, rustle up a gourmet meal, change a nappy, push a pram, do the shopping, shave their face and legs and unashamedly cry like a baby when watching a weepy etc on the basis that he is indeed a modern-day man
Conversely, modern women work a full-time job! Can change a fuse, paint the hall, cut the grass and on occasion shave without cutting themselves. Clearly the term ‘man of the house’ no longer exists. It sure is a topsy turvy World in which we live these days
However! (And there is always a however!) Seems the majority of women who do the same job as their male counterpart are, quite literally being short changed; as was confirmed recently when the BBC revealed the alarming disparity between male and female employee’s salaries and boy oh! Boy when they did; the shit hit the fan!
Clearly this and countless other situations are glaring example of male chauvinism, which, in all honesty needs to be addressed ASAP. In my book if you do the same job, you should receive the same salary, irrespective of gender, age, political bias, colour, race, etc Simple!

Freedom of Speech/ Make up your Mind!
The encyclopaedia describes Freedom of Speech as 'individuals having the right to articulate an opinion, without fear of government retaliation, or censorship. Freedom of Expression, on the other hand is sometimes used synonymously with the inclusion that any act seeking, receiving and imparting information or ideas, regardless of medium used
350 years ago, a Dutch philosopher suggested ‘every man may think! What he likes and ‘say what he thinks!’ Well these days; apparently not! If; as George Orwell proclaimed ‘liberty means ‘having the right!’ to tell people, what they don't want to hear!’ then we my friend, are quite frankly, in the shit!
In today’s World people seem intent/ desperate to find offence on what others say at every cut and turn, in their quest to suppress anything resembling controversial
For example, if, while dining with my wife and friends someone dare to utter a perceived controversial opinion, within the privacy of our table, then the chances are someone within listening distance may be inclined (try holding them back) to take issue and perhaps even have the temerity to interrupt and question the statement/s, even though we are quietly engrossed in what I would term a private discussion, albeit in a public place
Clearly hate speeches, lies, threats etc are not protected by the United Kingdom or 1st Amendment of the US Constitution. However; should I declare to ‘one and all’ I have decided to kill, my wife! (Don’t tempt me) then clearly I should if lucky be incarcerated.
Regulations, as with everything in life, are imperative. Freedom of speech doesn't literally mean freedom of speech! Freedom of speech comes with conditions. For example; screaming 'the Pope is a pervert' '(although perhaps factual) doesn't mean you can go around proclaiming you want to kill him! This is not freedom of speech. This is a proclamation of intent to murder! Likewise announcing you wish to kill Hilary Clinton or The Donald (much too many peoples consternation) is; with regards to freedom of speech; off the table!
So, although People have a right! To say what ever they want to say in private! It would appear we must tread wearily when we go public. You may not like some of the opinions people voice, or the words that they use, but this is absolutely no reason to have the government trample people's natural rights.
‘Death threats’ are not a form of free speech; they are a threat! Calling a soldier who has never done anything than serve his country in good faith a "Murderer!" is defamation of character. If you utter that to someone who is being tried or investigated for murder; it becomes a grey area. Conversely if you say that to someone who has been convicted! It’s deemed free speech. Protesting that the government should give amnesty to illegal’s, is an opinion and likely to be termed free speech provided you don't do it on my, or A. N others private property.
‘Hate speech’ is similar to ‘freedom of speech’ provided; the language used does not incite or encourage violence or violation of the law. There is a significant difference in a sign/ statement that says, No more black------ (fill in the blanks) and
Yes! Send us more dead, black---- (fill in the blanks)". The first implies/ suggests a lack of tolerance and your opinion that there should be no more B-----! The second shows distinct encouragement for the acceptance of violence against the group being protested. Strange as it may seem; it’s when ‘freedom of speech’ isn't ‘freedom of speech’ that the conflict/ problems arise. PS Profanity & Sexual suggestions are not free speech
In summation British law is based on ‘Christianity’ ergo should be precisely that! ‘British Christian law’ we are, after all, as it says on the tin British and Christian!

Boarding School V Poor Mans Son
I was raised in the Scottish equivalent of the Bronx. 5 days of the week saw me rise at 8am, wash in the sink, pull on my glad rags, (including, on occasion the previous day's underpants and socks) eat cornflakes, drink tea after which id be handed a grease proof paper; within which, was a sandwich and a biscuit, before being sent packing to school. By 4pm, en route home I was out on the streets kicking a ball and by 5 pm I sat down to eat whatever was on my plate.
Given we stayed in a one bed apartment; meant sharing the bedroom with my parents. This was achieved by way of a singular curtain running from wall to wall
The toilet was of the outside variety; that is to say; if anyone in the family needed to go! in the middle of the night for example, we simply hauled our asses from bed, slipped on shoes and some covering, lifted the keys and the torch from the hooks on the door, before then making our way to the outside toilet, in the sure and certain knowledge that having arrived at the venue, the loo was on the odd occasion engaged! Back then, I figured I had been dealt a bad hand; not so nowadays.
These days, I thank my lucky stars! For the way in which, I was raised. If nothing else Maw and Paw were around; should I, for whatever reason find myself face to face with the boogie man at 3am, while loitering with intent outside a toilet!
This brings me to boarding schools and their effect on the young 9-10yr old kids who are whisked off without so much as a ‘good luck! Kid’ Can you imagine how a 9/10/11 etc-year-old, any 9-10 yr old feels when; having been bumped outside boarding school with their worldly possessions by their side, they are compelled to wave good bye to Mum and Dad.
Apparently, life in a boarding school is not so dissimilar to life in jail. As one, who, albeit (as a young man) has seen the inside a prison for a few days; I understand the prison thing.
Conversely; having never stepped inside a boarding school, some may say I’m in no position to comment, however one would suspect!, that depression, control, rules and regulations, anxiety, fear etc, similarly apply to life in both boarding schools and prisons. All of, which seems as if, the way in which I was raised, was a damn sight better than been packed of to boarding school for months/ years.
The fall out/ trauma of an 9/10/11 etc yr old etc being dumped outside a boarding school would, I suspect, be overwhelmingly cruel, not to mention traumatic. Similar to a stint jail; every waking moment in a boarding school is governed by strict rules, without the concessions; and all because your parents love you!
Perhaps life with an alcoholic Father and a workaholic mother wasn’t all together a bad gig, at least they were always around to chastise me, amid trying to kill one another.
The well-worn Cliché ‘It will be the making of the boy/ girl; toughen him/her up, is (in my humble opinion) bullshit! The fact of the matter is the child would be better going home to a foster mother/ house keeper/ Nanny etc each day, for the duration of the term
Most guys I have met, who attended boarding school remain consumed with resentment and anger when they speak of how their parents packed them off to boarding school; by way of getting rid of them, and of them only being reunited occasionally. Don’t the parents realise that
