My best friend Ryan was late to the basketball game. Our home team is up by 10 points. Her older brother Antonio was doing his thing tonight. He is one of the popular jocks and I had a little crush on him. He is 2 years older than me and Ryan. He is a senior this year and I wish I could lie, he is a total hottie. He has braids that goes down to the middle of his back, light skinned caramel complexion, could be the poster boy for native decent. He is 6’1 and very toned athletic build. I swear his charm can always catch you slipping.

Finally, Ryan shows up and sits next to me. Ryan looks Indian like Antonio but a shade darker. And her curly hair has the boys always at her locker. She is built like a model, 5’9 but has a butt you would pay for and always competing to show she is smarter than me but I am still #1 she makes a close second. Where you been? I asked. Mom needed help around the house, trying to get ready for Antonio’s graduation party. You could have called me I would have come over and helped. Yeah, I know but I was almost done. And I really needed to escape the madness.

Well you know there is an after party. Do you want to go? I am down. I will tell my mom I’m going back to your house. I laugh. But Ryan whatever do you mean? I wink. We laugh and finish the game. We won by 15 pts. After the game we went to the after party that everybody was at, even Antonio.

What are you two doing here? Antonio asked. Having fun just like you. Don’t worry I won’t tell mom. Just be safe. We will Tony. You be safe too. Your massive groupies are out. Ryan says pointing around the room. Antonio kisses Ryan on her cheek. Then kisses me on mine and the whispers, You look beautiful tonight. (Which I did. Wearing fitted jeans, blue and white J’s, with a matching top and a black jacket, wavy hair down my back and gold accessories to flow.) And then walks away. What was that? Ryan asked me. I have no idea. Let’s dance. We danced and partied and made it back to my house by 1am. We were in bed when I got a text. I check my phone and read the message, Hope you made it home safe. You really did look good tonight. Talk to you later. Sweet dreams Mackenzie. -Tony. What game is he playing? I will ask him later. Night Ry. Night Kenzie.

We woke up to the smell of bacon and fresh croissants. We go down to the kitchen and Antonio is at the table with my parents and brother. Talk about weird. Good morning everybody. I say then grab a plate and sit down. After breakfast Ryan goes home to finish her paper for class. Which left me and Antonio.

Come with me, we need to talk. I grab his hand and go to my room. He sits at my desk and says, What’s up? What is up with the compliments and the good night text? He laughs. I just wanted you to know I see you. We may be 2 years apart and you’re my sister’s best friend. But I have a thing for you and wanted you to know. Wow, I don’t know what to say to all that. I have a thing for you too. But I figured you being you and btw have a girlfriend there was no reason to tell you. He moves and sits next to me on the bed. Mackenzie, I don’t want to start anything now, but in a few years after I can be established and you out of college maybe our stars will align. I leave for college in a week and wanted you to know how I feel. Now I have some things to do before graduation tomorrow. I will see you later. He kisses me on the lips and then leaves.

2 years goes by way to fast here it is now my graduation. And in a few weeks, me and Ryan are leaving for college. Life has been good for us. The parties, the dances oh and the guys. We’re going to miss high school. I hear my name Mackenzie Thomas and then I walk across the stage. Excited to be done with this place but sad to move on as an adult. Anyway, the party tonight is going to be fun. I heard Antonio’s in town. I haven’t seen him since Christmas. Just as I was walking back to my family, I run right into Antonio literally. Hey Mackenzie. Congratulations. He says then hugs me. Hi Tony. Thank you. I say still in his arms. He finally lets me go and I take an extra step back. How have you been Antonio? I have been good. Just in town for the graduation. Then back to school. What are your plans?

Well tonight I have a party to attend other than that just some packing before Friday. So, I can take you out tomorrow before I leave? Take me out for what? Don’t you have a girl friend? I do yes, but I want to take you out and celebrate your accomplishment. I say nothing just look at him. I know you are hesitating because of Ryan, but I promise I just want to celebrate with you. We can invite Ryan and her boyfriend if you want. Now I was laughing at him. I would love to go out with you and Ryan doesn’t need to be there. I am going to tell her. He smiles. Great, I will pick you up at 6pm. Ok, have a great rest of your day. I will and you be safe tonight. I always am.

The party was banging. The drinks were flowing, music blasting. Everything I needed but I couldn’t focus and just enjoy it because of Antonio being on my mind. Hey Kenzie, what’s the matter? Ryan asked. I have a date with Antonio tomorrow night, and I am nervous and don’t know why. A date with my brother Antonio? She asked puzzled. Yes, he asked me out earlier today. Do you even like him like that? I do like your brother, but he has a girl and he was always older then us. And now were both legal. I don’t know how to feel. How do you feel? I really don’t care if you date my brother. I just don’t want you to get hurt. Or have it mess up our friendship. I feel the same way Ryan. I want to put me and you before him. But it would be cool to really be sisters. I say laughing. Yeah and the thought of you and my brother nope not something I want in my mind. I pass. We stay about an hour longer then leave and go home.

Around 5pm I start to get ready. I shower, put on a cute matching baby blue bra and panty set. I decide a blue and white short dress with white heels. Flat iron my hair and was ready by 5:45pm. I start walking down to the door when my brother Jamie asked, Where are you going? Out, I have a date. With who? Nosy, none of your business. I will see you later. He laughed. He better not be no punk and be safe. Little brother chill I got this. Love you. Love you too. I walk outside just as Antonio pulls up. Jamie thinks to himself I know that car but from where.

Couldn’t wait to see me? I laugh. Yes and No, Jamie was trying to figure out who I was going out with. So, I was coming outside before he figured it out. Then he laughs. Oh, am I your little secret? No, there is nothing to hide, there is nothing going on between us. He looks sad. What? Nothing, let’s go eat. So where are we going? I was thinking we go to a seafood spot. Mmm my favorite food. You are not fooling anybody. He smiles. We pull up in front of the place and park. He holds my hand as we enter the restaurant.

The waitress seats us. We look over the menu. He asks, Do you see anything you want? Um everything sounds so good. I think I am going to do grilled shrimp and crab alfredo with a baked potato. Cool, I am going to have steak and lobster with a baked potato. The waitress took our order and it left us to ourselves. I break the silence. How is school going? It’s going I am ready to be done with it and start my career. I haven’t even started yet and I am dreading the 4 years. I am really thinking about taking another path. But I’m not leaving Ryan there by herself.

I can understand that, but you have to also think about what is best for you. Ryan can handle it. The hard part will be not having you every day like she does now. True, it will be hard for us both. Can I ask you something Kenzie? Yes. Why don’t you have a boyfriend? I laugh. You want the truth? Yes. I for the longest didn’t have an interest or the time to have one. Now I’m more open to it. Why did you ask that? I was curious, I never had to put a guy in place for you like I had to do many of times for Ryan. Our food comes. Everything smells and looks good. Your turn why are you really here with me if you have a girlfriend? He laughs.

I really wanted some alone time with you. And I like my girlfriend a lot. But there is something about you I want to know more. Wow, if I was your girl this, (pointing at myself and him) would not be happening. If you were my girl, huh! Don’t go there you know exactly what I mean. He laughs. I know and my intentions isn’t to hurt anybody. I promise. We enjoy the rest of dinner, he pays and start going back home.

Just pull in your drive way I will walk to my house next door. He pulls in and faces me. I had a really good time. Thank you for letting me take you out. I had fun to. It was definitely different. I lean over to hug him, and he kisses me. I kiss back. Which lead to it being a deeper and passionate kiss. Next thing I know we were in his room which was in the guest house.

And stripping each other. Right before he enters inside me, he stops and asks. Are you sure about this we can stop? I’m sure just start slow it’s my first time. Your first time? Are you sure you are ready? I don’t want to force you. If I wasn’t sure or ready, we wouldn’t be here now. So, stop killing the moment and enjoy it with me. He smiles and kisses me again and enters slow. Pulls out and goes back in but deeper. I moan it feels good, weird, and hurts a little adjusting to fit him. Soon I am taking all of him and there was nothing, but pleasure and excitement and I was being transported into some form of ecstasy, I have never felt before.

He was loving the expressions on her face, it was turning him on more. His pace was moving more intense and she was loving it. They came together and then just collapsed next to her on the bed. Are you ok? He asked. I laid on his chest and said, Yes, I am fine. Thank you for a great night. Your very welcome. We fall asleep in each other’s arms till 5am. I wake up kiss him and creep out before my house wakes up wondering where I am.

The next few days were busy and going by fast. Antonio texted and called a few times after he left. Ryan was stilling packing when I came over to start putting her stuff in the truck. Girl, you always wait till the last minute. We have to hit the road in an hour. Hey not my fault I had to say good bye to my man properly even if it took all night long. She winks.

You are a mess. I am going to start loading. Don’t hate you will find the right guy to show you what I mean soon. Yeah not going to talk about this. I am focusing on my career. Ok just wait till you see all those college guys. I shake my head. And walk out with boxes. We say our goodbyes and hit the road. 2 hour drive ahead of us to freedom.

CHAPTER 2

We arrive get our dorm room and start unloading. We get our classes and unpack. I walk to get us some snacks and meet a girl named Destiny. We become friends fast. We have 2 classes together and me and Ryan have 4 classes. Us three hang and party and study together. Time flew by we went to visit home for the holidays. I ran into Antonio a few times with Ryan and tried to act normal, but it was hard. I rather just stay clear of him, but we did hook up a few times before we all went back to school. He graduates this year. They crazy part was at Christmas when I came by his girlfriend was there too. I left and went to the movies and Ryan showed up 1 movie after. I know she knows something is going on. I am just waiting for her to ask. Antonio was drafted into the NBA. And was picked by Boston. So now everybody is sporting his team swag with proud.

I have been talking to this guy named Tyson for some time. I have been keeping him a secret from Ryan because in her eyes he is my first boyfriend and will be super over protective. Anyway, I need to tell her about him now because I have another secret and she is going to kill me. I met Tyson in class, and we ended up having 3 classes together. Ryan was only in one with me and him. So, we became study buddies and one thing lead to another. We have been seeing each other on the low off and on
