I was under the impression for years that you can stop working once you have a source of passive income flowing in. Boy, was I wrong. I’ve been doing internet marketing since 2012 and it took me till 2019 to figure out that you cannot simply create something and expect it to keep bringing you in the same income results as when you first put it out. I’ve created income streams with books, courses, websites, dropshipping, e-commerce, print on demand, etc. And none of those income streams pay like they used to, so the message is, expect your income to decrease unless you have a passive income such as Real Estate or Stocks and you’re an expert. Even stocks are risky, so beware (Sidenote: I do have a few stocks - one dividend paying stock but nothing too serious.) Unfortunately, with these passive income streams, you can’t just set it and forget it and expect to live off the proceeds for the rest of your life.

I will admit I was in fantasy land when I believed this. Because I slowed down the momentum of my business, things took a terrible turn for me financially. I found myself in credit card debt and living paycheck to paycheck from my businesses. I began delivering food to supplement my income and ultimately ended up having to go back to work part-time (because I hated delivering food). I’ve learned my lesson and it’s a lesson that I’ll never forget, you have to keep working.

Not only does working make you feel better as far as self-esteem because inherently we are creators who need something to do to keep us happy and feeling accomplished. So if you find yourself amongst those who've been watching videos on how you can just build this online income stream and you’ll never have to work again, you’re sadly mistaken.

Learn from my mistakes, keep building your audience and your business no matter how much you’re making. It’s hard to maintain the same income for years, but it’s necessary. In business you’ll see increases and decreases, you’re income will be sporadic. You have to keep working at it. It doesn’t have to be daily (which I do recommend that you do something for your business every day no matter how small the task), but it does need to be consistent. Do not fall into this trap. Keep creating, it’ll make you better all around.
