About this ebook
Shedding light on dark places and our worst habits can be painfully hard. Deciding to do better and then actually working towards letting go of the self-sabotaging (but oh so comfortable) ways we keep ourselves in dark places is even harder.
Through the lens of a newborn, ex-agnostic Christian, genesis provides an honest and raw behind-the-scenes view into the highs and lows of striving to do better. The poet shares her innermost dark places, her struggle with self-doubt and the illuminating revelations she received along the way to peace, with the intention of encouraging others to let the light in and shed their old skin, even when it hurts.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Genesis is a beautifully honest, intensely introspective, and inspiring collection of poetry that follows the author's journey from uncertainty, heartbreak, and disillusionment toward a brighter future filled with healthy relationships, the confidence to prioritize self-care, and a better life rooted in a new-found faith.
The book reads like a bird learning to take flight, leaping into an uncertain future, and despite setbacks, relentlessly finding the confidence to assess, correct, move on, and eventually soar.
Many books describe heartbreak, toxic relationships, and the path forward as a one-dimensional romantic journey from loss to effortless happiness, but Genesis vividly displays a fuller, more honest, and darker look at the truths of the journey. Many of the poems introspectively and beautifully waver back and forth as toxic relationships unravel, portraying the push and pull of love, relationships, and existence as they really are.
The author has a true talent in her portrayal of uncertainty. There were many moments where I felt a kinship with emotional uncertainty portrayed in the poems. More than a few times, I felt as if I alone had only known the true pain and fear of uncertainty, but the author's words made it clear that I am not alone. I found great comfort in those moments while reading Genesis.
I recommend this book to any aspiring authors and artists struggling to find their way. The author's haunted journey to self-actualization is captured perfectly in this book. The book will surely inspire you to honestly examine your journey, leave your wavering self-confidence behind, find strength within yourself, and share your story along the way.4 people found this helpful
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book is a very well-crafted collection of poems that deals with inner conflict, pain, fear and that which keeps us from creating whatever it is we are trying to create. Though this is a short poetry book, it conveys a large journey to finding yourself amongst all your troubles and the troubles of those around you. This book was made with a lot of heart and it shows all throughout.
