Prologue

Yazmin tried to ignore the red beams that were bouncing off her body as she sat across from Max.  Although he had been her drug connect for over a year, he still didn’t trust her. He didn’t trust anybody, that’s what kept him alive for so long. Yazmin could feel Bear’s discomfort as he sat next to her. She could only pray Max didn’t sense it. Anything he saw as a potential weak link, he eliminated. He didn’t think twice about putting two bullets in the mother of his children’s head when she threatened to go to the police after she caught him cheating. Max admired Yazmin from across the table. The linen suit she wore hugged her thick frame nicely. Her perky breasts was slightly spilling over the top of the lace bra she wore underneath, and Max was sure she had on the black lace thong panties to match. Max felt his manhood rising under the table at the thought. The two had been doing business together for over a year after meeting at his assistant, Chanel’s, birthday party. Max could tell immediately that she had not been a part of the underground world for a long time. Under her cold demeanor, there was still something sweet and innocent about her. Like anyone he did business with, Max had studied her from afar, before agreeing to do business with her. Chapter 1

~What Didn’t Kill Me Only Made Me Stronger~

Yazmin picked up her cane and threw it across the room. Shit! she screamed out in frustration. It had been three months since she had been shot, and not being able to move around how she was used to was taking its toll on her. In all, a total of three bullets had penetrated her body. One through her thigh, a graze wound to her side, and the worst damage was done by the bullet she took through the foot. The large .45 bullet had shattered every bone in Yazmin’s foot and nearly amputated two of her toes. After several surgeries and being bedridden for the past few months, Yazmin was now able to walk a short distance, but only with the assistance of a cane or walker. For the past month, nothing but thoughts of who would do this to her, consumed Yazmin’s brain. Could Nadia be that mad? Was this Terry’s way of paying her back for leaving him? Was Jai trying to stop her from releasing her paperwork exposing what he did? All these questions flooded Yazmin’s mind while she laid in the bed, trying to recover. As soon as she had her strength back, Yazmin would stop at nothing to find out. Sitting on the side of her bed, she began to do the leg exercises her physical therapist had shown her, contemplating what her next move would be.  Between her lawyer fees and no longer receiving a paycheck from her job, Yazmin’s savings was getting low.
