I would like to give a special thank you to the following people:

God: You have created so many miracles for me. Because there just isn’t enough space in my book, I cannot mention them all. But the recent and obvious miracle is you helping me complete this book. I am so amazed by this big accomplishment, as are so many family and friends around me.

Frank (Dziadek) Bialy, my late grandpa: He served as an inspiration to me, and he was a man who I looked up to all my life as a role-model. He was the very honest, warm, loving, and caring person that I aim to be. Also, he was the man who made massive sacrifices and put it all on the line for his family that he so dearly loved. When Germany took over Poland in World War 2, he earned many medals for doing the work of 2 men: loading the artillery guns, 2 at a time, and he had a major role in defeating Hitler and Germany; that’s how much drive the man had. He Left Poland for Canada, in the 50s, to escape socialism and to provide me with freedom and unlimited opportunity. When he moved to Canada, he met a German man, and said: In Europe, you and I fought; in Canada, you and I are friends. I know he wants me to succeed and win big. Here’s to making you proud, Dziadek, as you watch me win over and over again! You are the best, and your selfless legacy will live on forever!

Eva Kacso, my grandma (This very loving woman gave me the love of 2 grandmas. She is twice the grandma that anyone could have): She is a big spiritual inspiration to me, and she gives me strength. She escaped the Soviet-controlled Hungary, in 1957, to come to Canada, while she was 8 months pregnant with my mom. She was getting shot at and chased by government German Shepherds along the railroad tracks. But her inspirational story begins when her father was killed right in front of her, by shrapnel. Then there were numerous failed escapes, with her 3 children, until her mother demanded she leave her children behind to escape to Canada with her husband (who eventually left the family). Learning your story, I have no right to ever feel depressed.

Franky Bialy, my son, and Reachy Martin, my wife: You are part of my inspiration to hit my high goals; without you, it would be a lot harder. Thank you for being there for me and coming along with me to freedom; it wouldn’t be right without you.

Teeder Bialy, BA in Economics, my brother, and the brains of the family: Thank you for all the important knowledge that you share with me; you are my left brain.

Ted Bialy, my dad: Thank you for all your life lessons: Treat people the way you want to be treated; Good things come to good people. When I put these practices into my business, I learned that honesty doesn’t only sell; my clients sell me to new clients when I am the only one you should trust. Thank you also for letting me know that I am a natural businessman.

Christina Bialy, my mom: Thank you for not working, and for staying home and being a mother to my brother and me. A lot of kids grow up with baby-sitters and daycare. School was hard enough on me, and I don’t think I could have handled day care at all.

To all of my clients who put their trust in me, especially you who are still with me since my 1st fulltime season of 2015 (the rest have moved out of town during the housing boom!): Linda Nelson, Doris Mabee, Stan, Kathleen Keslick, Mike and the late Carol Godhead (I miss you), and Nick Snow. You are more than just loyal clients; you are great friends that I love having a chat with.

To everyone at my church (All Nations Christian Fellowship), especially pastor Dave Walters, who during his sermon used a powerful grass analogy that was very useful for my book. I give him the credit where I rewrote part of my chapter to include that soil compaction makes it very difficult for grass to grow.

To the staff of Our Lady of Grace Parish, Aurora, especially Fr. Francis McDevitt, Kathleen Keslick, Nancy McDonald, and Pedro Zucca: for allowing me to volunteer to care for your lawn, bushes, trees, and leaves. Though I was helping the church, you were helping me too, by allowing me to conduct experiments with different techniques and weeding, trying out new equipment, and allowing me to practice so I could improve and fine-tune my skills.

Lisa Browning, my personal editor of this book: You are the only one I will ever use to edit my future books. You are so thorough and so quick; you are exactly what I needed. Thank you so much for your impressive work!

Rosa Greco, my personal book architect: Rosa is a very clever lady, who has such a brilliant imagination. Rosa was the one who helped inspire my book title, which so many people love! Rosa is the one that came up with the idea of The Grass is Greener on the ‘X’ Side. I experimented with what the X should be: My side, was what I was using originally, but later I decided that I wanted your grass greener on Your Side, because I am on your side!

Liz Ventrella, head of 10-10-10 Publishing: Thank you so much for helping make the process of writing my book go so smoothly. You were so prompt anytime I had a question or concern and you made things happen!

The late and great Cass Turnbull, of Plant Amnesty: You opened my eyes when it comes to pruning the proper way. You are the reason why I do it so well. Thank you so much for teaching me the right way so that my clients can have a proper pruning job. Thank you for saving many lives of plants, bushes, shrubs, hedges, and trees in my area! Your legacy will live on forever!

Cynthia Kersey, founder & C.EO. of Unstoppable Foundation: I made a deal and a promise to God that when I grew up and became wealthy, I would give more than I make to help starving people in the world. You have created the charity that I thought I was going to have to make myself! All I have to do now is just visit your website, UnstoppableFoundation.org, to easily make a donation from home! Thank you for making this process so much easier than I ever thought possible, to make my dream come true!

Karyn Mullen: Thank you for giving me so much business advice and insight on hiring, expansion, and structure. I really admire your speed; you are very fast, so smart, and absolutely hilarious. Your presence in class makes for a very fun day, and I am thankful every time you visit, and I always wished you could have visited longer!

Lou Schizas, financial analyst, educator, public speaker, broadcaster: When I was at rock bottom in my career, during the 2008 recession (the point where I started thinking that there just has to be another way in life), and when I started listening to Talk Radio AM640 Toronto, Lou showed me a new way of thinking, from his show. You opened my eyes, and I have never looked back! You always seem to put such a positive spin on everything, and you show me that there are so many great opportunities in failure. My new life began with you; you shone light into my dark cocoon, and I found my way out! Thank you so much, Lou, for setting me free! Happy capitalism!

    And last but not least:

Raymond Aaron, New York Times bestselling author, including two Chicken Soup for the Soul books. I found you just at the right time, when I could finally start dreaming big and setting goals. You came along, and you are giving me guidance with those goals. You are not just showing me, but you are driving me to my goals faster, in your brand-new, red Tesla! You are a great teacher, and a caring, loving, and brilliant man, and you are the man I look up to (I mean, I could write a whole book on you, but this is the condensed version!). Thank you for sharing so much valuable knowledge of business and life with me.

Also, I thank you, if you are reading this right now, because you are a big part of my success, and now you are part of my book! Now you can even tell people: Nathan has even included me in his acknowledgement section of his book! Lol. Have fun!

    1st Element Regular Maintenance

(How to have that professional look, and the answers to the common but great questions that my clients ask me)

My loyal clients, and/or anyone who knows that I groom/maintain the beauty of people’s lawns, will ask me common but great questions about lawn care. My number 1 rule is: Let the grass talk to you. Not many people realize that your grass communicates with you. I am often called The Grass Whisperer (But because there are so many people on the internet using that as a nickname, I typically laugh it off.) because I can speak Grass when I squat down and run my hand through the lawn. I have a quick conversation with the lawn to learn its needs and wants. It’s not a hard language to learn, but a lawn is like a baby; it has its way of communicating with you without words: when it is hungry, needs changing, feels cold, etc. I will get into the Language of the Lawn as I go on in this guide, and you will learn how to talk Grass too!

A great question I always get is, How long should my grass be? First, let me talk about the myth that some people sometimes bring up about a natural wild field of grasses being healthier than a domestic lawn. Yes, a wild field, growing nice and tall, may thrive and be strong. But let me now take my mower to that field (Yes, I tried this. Unfortunately, it was at the house of a client who was too injured to maintain the lawn, for almost all summer before contacting me). After I worked the lawn down with my trimmer and engine-powered scythe, to get the lawn low enough to get my mower in to mulch and bag the clippings, the once normal-looking lawn was a very weedy and patchy eyesore, with thick, ugly weed stalks in the lawn, sticking out from the ground. (For what I comically call domestic field-mowing, like this, I now bail the weeds and
