Slade spun slowly on his bar stool as the attention of just about every other man in Club Nitro was irresistibly drawn to the blonde woman who had just made her entrance. Even the men with their partners were lured into overt stares rather than covert glances, resulting in more than one sideways elbow to the ribs.

He didn’t have time for that type of distraction, so he turned on his emotional inhibitor. It was a function that came standard with the type of neural implant that was imbedded deep within his brain. He turned back to the bar uninterested now that his libido was quenched. Instead took another sip of his Rum and Coke and waited impatiently for any new intel on his target.

Apparently his lack of interest drew the woman’s attention and a few moments later she was sitting next to him at the bar. She placed a sensual hand on his arm and leaned in to him.

I think you owe me a drink, she said with an intentional mischievousness in her voice.

Why is that? he asked turning his attention briefly from his drink to look her over in more detail.
