Bonnie Elizabeth could never decide what to do, so she wrote stories about amazing things and sometimes she even finished them. While rejection stung her so badly in person, she spent most of her young life talking to cats and dogs rather than people, she was unusually resilient when it came to rejections on her writing, racking up a good number of them. Floating through a variety of jobs, including veterinary receptionist, cemetery administrator, and finally acupuncturist, she continued to write stories. When the internet came along (yes, she’s old), she started blogging as her cat, because we all know cats don’t notice rejection. Then she started publishing. Bonnie writes in a variety of genres. Power Outage

Kelsey needed help. She hated needing help. The power was out. The elevators wouldn’t work and she was stuck in her wheelchair.

She knew she and Nicole were the last two call takers left in the building. Moments ago, she’d been on the phone, looking at her computer screen, tilted at the appropriate ergonomic angle.She’d felt her hair, tied back neatly in a ponytail, raise slightly from an odd surge of electricity. She’d barely had a moment to register that when the office had been plunged into darkness.

The last time darkness fallen in an eye blink had been when she’d hit a tree and lost consciousness. Ultimately, that time, she’d lost much more than just consciousness.

This time, Kelsey remained awake. She still smelled the coffee she’d poured herself an hour ago. She felt the padding of her wheel chair seat and the way the arm pressed against the side of her thigh. She hadn’t fallen and hit her head, although the very thought of that happening again speeded up the beat of her heart.
