    I never intentionally looked for bad guys; I just had an interesting way of finding myself in some not-so-great dating situations. I had such a terrible track record in dating – and I do mean terrible. Most of my relationships lasted within the range of 5-6 months. Was I simply, not the relationship type?

    I viewed myself as someone who was quite accomplished. During my educational training and career preparation, I planned, researched, and persevered in pursuit of my ultimate goals. I was unapologetic and unwavering as to what I wanted to do. Once, I even looked back through my high school senior year memory book and confirmed that my 5-year goals had been met. I was in my early 30’s, had a nice house, my own car, my own business, and a terminal degree. So, why was I still single?

    One afternoon, after lamenting to Danita about my lack of involvement in healthy relationships, she stopped me mid-sentence. I’ve been thinking about that, she said. There’s something I want to try with you. Over the next two hours, she painstakingly explained the ‘ins and outs’ of the 90-Day Plan to me. There was so much involved, that I swore she was reading it out of some manual I didn’t know about. And everything she was saying made perfect sense.

    Did you make this up? I asked.

    Yep, she replied.

    Well, how do you know it works?

    I guess we’ll see, she chuckled.

    Admittedly, I was skeptical. But after she poignantly pointed out that my previous way wasn’t working, I realized I had nothing left to lose.

    Weeks later, as I arrived at a neat little café for my date, I repeated the mantra to myself, just like Danita had told me. I walked in with no expectations, feelings, or hopes. I just went in to
