JA MORANT ADMITS that, at first, he was a bit nervous to have an entire documentary about his life. Although he had watched plenty of docs before and knew what they entailed, he still didn’t know what to expect. It’s a feeling that’s understandable. With all the spotlight and attention that’s been on him since his breakout sophomore season at Murray State, opening up to cameras isn’t the easiest thing to do. For a superstar like Ja, privacy is important.

“I only tell people what I want them to know,” says the Grizzlies guard over the phone in June. “So I had to step a little outside of my comfort zone and actually say some more stuff about me…I’m more of a kept-in-house type of person.”

Morant’s coming-of-age story is captured in the six-part docuseries, Directed by Dexton Deboree (), it captures Morant’s journey from a small-town kid in South Carolina to NBA stardom. Told through his perspective, the docuseries takes
