A tango deejay lights a cigarillo as the last strands of the sun yawn over the horizon. The pulse of Buenos Aires clogs the dance hall, as the Sunday night milonga lullabies the dancers with yesterday’s tango music. Tired shoes gape at the insoles as men with sunken eyes rummage for the last vestiges of youth amongst the middle-aged women who hunker down at tables like exotic birds of prey, scanning the room. A trickle of dancers drip through the door, air kisses spattering the space between friend and rival. Expensive perfume clashes with over-zealous aftershave as the hall fills up.
